Re: The Children of Hurin
Hello everyone,
I had heard about Mr Lee's involvement with this recording elsewhere, but it is really great to see it confirmed here! I look forward to hearing Mr Lee bringing Tolkien's words to life through his voice. I am sure it will be brilliant, and Mr Lee must have enjoyed recording the audio book of Tolkien's work immensely. I remember asking Mr Lee the question a few years ago about recording The Lord of the Rings because I knew by then how much he loved the books, and he replied that nobody had asked him to do it. Also, I realise that it is a rather lengthy work and, I imagine, would take quite a long time to record. However, I am really delighted that Mr Lee has recorded The Children of Hurin which I have not yet read and I am very curious to learn more about it. Congratulations to Mr Lee on this new achievement, and a huge thank you both to him and to those people (publishers, etc.) who have made it happen! I am sure that everyone will love this. All the best:
Warmest regards,
Andrés

Great news indeed! I have read The Children of Hurin few years ago. It's another epic story from Middle-Earth created by JRR Tolkien. This dark tale impressed and mesmerised me like Lord of the rings did and ever does. I'm looking very forward to hear Mr. Lee's wonderful deep voice reading The Children of Hurin!
Re: The Children of Hurin
Does Houghton-Mifflin, the U.S. publisher of Tolkien's work, have any plans to release the audio book of "The Children of Hurin" in the states?
Considering post-movie success of everything Tolkien, I certainly hope they do--oh, gosh, Mr. Lee has a voice like chocolate for the ears! Mmm, better yet, make that yummy chocolate-dipped strawberries for the ears! (...is Mr. Lee allergic to strawberries? important to know details...)

Humm! Chocolate! You used the correct comparison.
I think that Mr. Lee likes chocolate. I wait he is not allergic. Chocolate is so good! Yesterday I attended a called film Chocolat and in the passed week The Fantastic Factory of Chocolate... Oh... if it didn't go my severe diet!
But to hear Mr. Lee's voice that sounds as chocolate to the ears won't bring damages.
Re: The Children of Hurin
That's so cool. I'll have to be sure to pick this up of it when I get some more money. I had no idea about this and it's been a while since I've checked the forum. After the horrible treatment of Saruman in the last movie, brushing him off as not being a threat and even the way they tried to horribly close it off his threat in the extended verison didn't sit right with me. I'll be certainly sure to pick it up when i can

Re: The Children of Hurin
Hi Everyone, I found this 'blog' by a Steven Hartsite in which he talks a bit about the book and the audio book; 'The Children of Hurin'...Though he doesn't seem to care for the story that much, he has great praise for Mr. Lee's narration.....
Here are two quotes about Mr. Lee by this gentleman:
......."Once you get through the drizzle of names and genealogies at the beginning of the story, the tragic narrative develops considerable momentum and power, and Lee handles the Elvish names and languages as though he grew up speaking them.".....
......"but I can recommend the rest to anyone who might want another trip to Middle-earth with a master narrator for a guide.".......

Re: The Children of Hurin
Hi all,
I have just finished this audio cd and I'm thrilled! It's a great dark tale and very well read by Mr. Lee. Has anybody heard it?
Kathrin
I have not heard it, but I have read the book. It's on the 4th tier of the Tolkien books for me. Lord of the Rings, Silmarillion, The Hobbit, then this book in terms of likability
