Jinnah, the film in which Mr Lee has given his lifetime performance, slowly is getting the attention it deserves.
It has been shown continuously in the UK at Satellite TV Channel Sky and now is starting to spread to the most unlikely places.

I'm thrilled this film is getting more exposure in the UK and other parts of the world, but does anyone out there have an idea if we in the US might ever see it?
It has not been shown on cable as of yet or released in video stores.
Does any one know about any future plans to release it in some form or another in the US?
If so, please share!
Carmen
Thanks for the posting of the article, Juan. Here's hoping some distributor in the US is ahead of the curve. I've got to think with LOTR out hugely and Star Wars II coming that someone in La La Land is looking at Mr. Lee's marketability and his other recent movies...
Best,
John
It's heartening to see that Jinnah is getting a wider distribution; and that, little by little, more and more people are able to see Mr. Lee's greatest role. However, the sober fact of the matter is that the film industry -- like any other -- is driven by money. What looks like it will make a good profit gets publicized, marketed, and distributed. What doesn't, regardless of its artistic, social, or political quality, sits on a shelf.
So, we get a lot of films about drug dealers, psyho-killers, car crashes, deranged jilted lovers, and teenagers having sexual relations with fruit pies. But a film about a Muslim nationalist leader, nation-builder, and anti-imperialist? I don't think it's going to happen. Not in the United States, anyway. And not a wide, popular distribution. Jinnah is too dignifed a film -- there are no explosions, kung-fu battles, or bare breasted starlets. And, especially considering recent events, I can't imagine any major US distributor taking up a film about a Muslim statesman. Perhaps, at best, it might get a limited run at a few "art" house or film festivals in a few major US cities.
I know I sound cynical. But, believe me, friends, I'm also very saddened at what I think is true. I want to see this movie! I want to see Christopher Lee's magnum performance! But I don't think I will.
I hope I'm wrong. I so very, very much, hope I'm wrong.
Jinnah will get its Worldwide release and so will the film documentary on the making of Jinnah, "Dare to Dream".
If anyone can do something for this film, it is Mr Lee. Once he finishes EpII, he'll start to really push for its release.
AssalaamOalaikum,
Thanks for inquiring on Films 'Dare to Dream' (Making of
Film 'Jinnah') and Film 'Jinnah'.
Currently, only distribution rights for Film 'Dare to Dream' are
available. We are hoping once distribution rights are sold, the
film will be available to public. We are helping the producers
of 'Dare to Dream' to market the distribution rights. If you or
someone you know might be interested, please confirm back to us.
Surprise, surprise. Dare to Dream is on its way.
I give it 3 months maximum before distributors start to spam the film producers. Jinnah will get the release it deserves.
Excellent
Will this be a theatrical release?
Or straight to dvd/vhs?
Either way, it's about time.
BRING IT ON!!!!! Recent programs broadcast in the USA regarding life in Muslim countries have been very successful ratings wise for PBS, CNN, CBS and FOX NEWS since the September 11th attacks. People in the USA are very curious about this religion and hungry for information about it. One of our greatest sports legends, boxer Muhammed Ali, is Muslim. Right now would be an excellent time to roll this out in the USA in general release. It wouldn't be a Harry Potter, Star Wars or LOTR type box office but I think many people would go see it! A few good reviews and it would soar!
While it is true that people have been watching documentaries on these countries, they seem to be more of the "car crash fixation" mentality- I dont want to watch, but its there attitude..
JINNAH is a drama, & a historical one at that.... much as you & i would like to see it, the general public has a poor image of the Muslim religion.. & yes, this film might correct it, but it needs for people to be interested in seeing it first(a catch 22)...
...remember the tempest over THE MESSENGER (where people
were incensed at any film depicting Mohammed ??)..
...the fury over LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST (created by those
who hadnt seen it,& condemning sight unseen a major work)...
I would like to be proven wrong , as I would like people to judge individuals, not whole races & religions and genders (bigotry in any form is wrong) ...
ok,Im leaping off my soapbox....
______
& the oscar for best sopporting actor goes to JAR JAR BINKS ?????? (tv goes blank, static fuzz fillls screen)........
I agree that it is about time for it to come out theatrically as only Mr. Lee can do it , because since I saw a small sampling of it on this website now I know I want to see the rest of it badly because I never seen Mr. L ee cry on screen and I think it should be interesting especailly if Mr. Lee says that his part at the end of the movie when he was crying that he really did cry real tears and go beyond his acting abilites to even do that i think he should have gotten an Oscar in 98 for his portrayl as Jinnah I mean from as much I have seen on this website ofcourse definatly , and who knows after a while it will be on VHS and DVD , and if Mr. Lee was asked to do a bio on the DVD called Chirstopher Lee talks about Jinnah would he do it?
I mean because Ben Kingsley did the same thing on the Gandhi DVD when it came out , plus I'm hoping that Jinnah the movie comes out at the Marcus Theaters by my house in IL. that is if it's comes in the US . and who knows he might get the Oscar Nomination for Jinnah this time when it comes out , Could you even imagne Mr. Lee in his early 80's reciving that Oscar for Jinnah when they say and the winner is Christopher Lee in Jinnah and the song from the Jinnah soundtrack is in the Background but I would say he might get this one for star Wars ii or Lotr ii or as a lifetime achivment award which is called an Honorary Oscar but either way it goes i'm rooting for him on it like I am rooting for Ian Mckellen as Gandalf for Best Supporting Actor in this years awards and I hoping that LOTR will win thr Special Effects award Hands down .
Best Regards ,
Amy Maloney

Finaly it gets some form of distrubtion.
