Check out the Multimedia page and you'll find a link to view The Many Faces of Sherlock Holmes. This is an excellent overview of the many films to feature the character of Sherlock Holmes. Mr. Lee is the onscreen guide and narrator for this nearly 1 hour program. Fairly informative and fun viewing.
Dali,
I've just tested the links to the video, and they seem to be just fine. Which is to say I just watched the first two minutes of The Many Faces of Sherlock Holmes. I'm afraid that the problem appears to reside at your end, either with Real Player or your PC configuration. I'm afraid I'm out of my element with the tech end of things, so I'm sorry to say that there is absolutely nothing that I can do for you in this instance as the links are fine.
My Realplayer won't access this stuff either! I've removed this program and re-downloaded it a dozen or more times! I guess maybe the expensively "upgraded" version MIGHT work--temporarily(?)--but the basic Realplayer declines these audio files now. Hmmmm ... how nice.
Not to beat this to death, but no upgrade to the paid version of Real Player is necessary. Our webmaster makes every effort to make all clips as widely accessible as possible. I'm running Real Player 8 Basic on Win98 through a 56k dial-up and the clips play perfectly. I'm sorry, but I really don't know what else to suggest folks.
Although it is very off topic and this should belong on the Website Upgrades Forums, for those of you that are having problems with Real Player I have written down a few things you need to do.
I assume that you get an error stating that the link cannot be found or something similar. If so, you must follow this procedure in the correct order.
Note: While you are doing this, you browser must never be opened at the Christopher Lee Web otherwise you will still encounter problems.
1. Uninstall Real Player completely and reboot.
2. Next, you must clear completely your temporary Internet files and history in your browser settings.
3. Delete the following directory:
C:/Program Files/Real/Real Player
4. Reboot your computer again
5. Go to Real Media
I have watched THE MANY FACES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES.....I enjoyed it very much.
Although I have to confess, that it was new to me that also Leonard Nimoy has played this Character.
I know that has nothing to do with Mr.Lee, but I would like know if this movie is available and where I can buy it.
Maybe this is something where Charles can help me !?
Thank you !!!!
Regards, Steffi
There are no videos available of Leonard Nimoy's appearances as Holmes. One appearance was a corporate training film if my memory serves while otherwise he appeared only in stage performances of the William Gillette play Sherlock Holmes.
Mr. Lee's narration of The Many Faces of Sherlock Holmes makes it one of my favorite Holmes related programs. Mr. Lee also appears on a series of Sherlock Holmes videos featuring Ronald Howard (appeared in Hammer's Curse of the Mummy's Tomb also son of Leslie Howard) as Holmes. Mr. Lee gives a short introduction at the begining of each tape although he is not in the episodes themselves. The fellow playing Watson, Howard Marion Crawford, did however appear as Dr. Petrie in the Fu Manchu films with Mr. Lee. I can't recall if the intros were just clips from The Many Faces program tacked onto the episodes or if they were filmed expressly for the video series as Mr. Lee is in the same location, which is the reconstruction of the Baker Street sitting rooms at the Sherlock Holmes Pub in London. Whatever the case, I'm always thrilled to find Mr. Lee connected to Sherlock Holmes!
Okay folks, here's the deal. Please use the Website Upgrades Forum for any technical issues. It is the correct Forum for technical difficulties and will give our Webmaster a good idea of what issues folks are having without having to roam through the various Forums to discover them. My apologies, but while I sympathise with your problems, I can do absolutely nothing about them.
