Mr Lee is acting also as a casting director for "The Riding of the Laddie". We already had news of him approaching a co-star of LOTR and several other well known actors. Johnny Depp, who he considers to be the best actor of his generation, could also be on his list.
With already an excellent script, the original Wicker Man director and a Mr Lee's idea of a dream cast, this film promises to be an overall winner.
Any talented actors here, should contact Mr Lee straight away. If he asks you to turn up for a casting trial, remember to wear a fire proof suit.:1devil:
Not only am I an actor now, but I am a retired fire fighter. Show me to my place in the Wicker Man!!!!

Well instead of the dire LeAnn Rimes he should take a look at Leelee Sobieski . She first came to prominence as Joan Of Arc in the CBS mini-series of the same name, and unlike most young starlets she actually is talented. She's continued to carve out an impressive list of credits.

HERE is a link I found to a site discussing "news" regarding both Universal's proposed Wicker Man "remake" and The Riding of the Laddie. Of course, I can't say how trustworthy this site is, but the author quotes Robin Hardy to the effect that Mr. Lee will play a travelling born-again preacher and that Vanessa Regrave will play his wife. This would, I imagine, place Mr. Lee somewhat in a similar role to that played by Edward Woodward in the original film.
Anyone know if there's any truth to this? Juan? If Ms. Regrave and Mr. Depp are involved in the project, then "dream cast" is right!
Speaking of 'dreams,' this film could turn out to be a Christopher Lee fan's dream come true. Stoke up the fires, baby! Hail Nuada!
Oh, the site also mentions a "Wicker Man festival" in Galloway, Scotland this July.
Alfonso,
Everything is true. Deep still needs convincing from Mr Lee.
They say it will happen in September, I hope nothing goes wrong.
If that is the case, I will be taking my holidays this year in Scotland. I would love to be able to go into the set and watch them film, even if it is only just one day. I had the opportunity of doing that in the set of Jinnah and was never able to make it. Oscar went in my place instead, I still regret the day.
Oh good. I know I'm tired, but for the life of me I couldn't figure what the Americans would be doing living in Scotland with Mr. Lee and Vanessa Redgrave going door to door...time to give these tired eyes a rest
As for Mr. Lee being the villain, well I can hardly blame him, who wouldn't be with Born Again Christians knocking at the door...(this is a joke, this only a joke, do not adjust your set...or send tedious emails).
Cheers!
I thought it might be too good to be true. . . ie. the press getting it 100% right. Here's the quote and the cite:
"Laddie" will depart from the original in significant ways. Hardy told U.K newspaper the Scotsman that Lee will play the naif, in this case a door-to-door, born-again preacher who comes to Scotland with his wife, adding that Vanessa Redgrave was in line to play the wife. "
Go get 'em, Juan!

That's OK, Charles. You may be a heathen, but not, I trust, an unenlightened one.
