In a poll by by Empire Magazine, readers prefer Saruman as their Grandfather. What does he have that others don't? It must be Mr. Lee and not the character, he has to be the coolest 81 year old on earth.

Take a look here

I voted in that Empire poll, and I did it so Saruman came out on top.
The vote was about who do you think you are more like.

His the best ! there not many out there that can hold a candle to Mr. Lee. Laughing out loud

That would take all day to mention all of Mr. Lee good points.
You could write a book.

I have to say, I'd be rather scared if visiting grandad entailed a visit to the dark and haunting Orthanc... Laughing out loud Heh.

It was definately Mr. Lee, and not Saruman, who won that poll. He's definately the coolest octagenarian around!

I lost both of my Grandads, so I wouldn't mind having Saruman(Mr. Lee ) as mine, but I think his to young for that.

Never mind, I could swap my old man for Saruman! he wouldn't of lost with me behind him, ( I know Saruman hasn't lost yet ) but I will swap him any way!

Laughing out loud :D

Come on, Christina and Jose! How about making him a grandfather in reality? Wink Dad, GrandDad, or doting uncle: I'm sure he has much wisdom, wit, and fun to share with his family (Mr. Lee, not the character! Saruman is more like my inlaws!) Shock

Jose? We are trying but nature is not being too kind at the moment.

"Jose" is the name of my daughter Chrissy's pediatrician, a wonderful doctor! Now I understand, she had an appointment this week.

There are many people we wish we could have as grandfathers and if Mr Lee was my grandfather I wouldn't complain but I don't want to replace the grandfather that I once had.

I lost my granpas when I was young, so it would be nice to have another grandpa. However, I think Christopher Lee is way too cool to be my grandad even though he is 81!

Hmmmm. . . If Mr. Lee were my grandfather we'd sit around all day discussing World War Two diplomatic history (which is what we did at the event in May -- one of the high points of my life!) On the other hand, Saruman could blast all my enemies to molecules. . . Hmmmm. . .

Both of my grandfathers are no longer here, and I miss them terribly. Mr. Lee would make a fine grandpa, very kindly, knowledgeable, and you can't help but get the feeling he might portray some his characters to delight little children. (With a twinkle in his eye, of course!) Sounds wonderful, Alfonso, about your conversation with him. Laughing out loud

I return after a brief hiatus (don't ask... but a tip to the wise, it's not as easy to mount a military takeover of Mauritius as it looks), and there's not only a lovely new blue site design, but apparently a surrogate grandfather program in place. Astonishing changes indeed, my friends...
