Mr. Lee will be conducting signings at "The Cinema Store" in London and Nottingham, for DVDs and books purchased from those stores. All will be personalised. He will not be signing any personal memorabilia and has asked me to advise fans that he won't make any exceptions.

Wayne Kinsey, author of 'Hammer Films, The Bray Years' will also be appearing.

These signings are subject to Mr. Lee's availability on those dates.

London, 22nd November from 5-7pm.
4B Orion House, Upper St Martin's Lane, London, WC2H 9NY

Nottingham, 30th November from 2-5pm.
Unit T2, The Cornerhouse Leisure Complex, Nottingham, NG1 4DB

It is a great pity, that I live here in Germany and not in London or Nottingham. And on both days I must go to work in my office.
I'm really sad.

I live an hour's drive from Nottingham... and I reckon it'd be quicker even on the train, if they're on time that day...

I'm gonna try my hardest to get up to Notts that day - I'd love to see Mr.Lee in person. Smile

" In life , it's not the things you do that you regret but the things you don't "
Not my quote but I like it . Take my word for it folks , if anyone is considering making the trip to see Mr Lee..STOP CONSIDERING , just do it . Life's too short for regrets . Regardless as to how long the meeting lasts it's something you'll always remember .

I also live fairly close to Nottingham and I'd love to meet Mr Lee in person (who wouldn't?), but I don't know if I'll be abe to go.

Ok, looks like I'm gonna have to ask mum to lend me some cash... if I'm gonna go, I've gotta go on the train - mom says it'll be busy with X-mas shoppers and all, yadda, yadda, yadda, ... Jurious replies 'I don't care' Wink. It's not every weekend Mr.Lee's gonna be any where near where I live, so, like you say Matt, I might as well just do it, and get up there. Can't say I didn't try then.

One of my penfriends is going, so I'm hopefully gonna get to Notts, meet my penfriend, then we can go along together. Smile It'll be a well cool day, if all goes well.

The only concern I have is finding the right platform in the train station from which to get home again! LOL
Oh well... my other penpal lives near by... I could have fun finding her house if I do get stranded.

Hi all
I was just wondering whose idea it was for personalising everything. I went down to London and enjoyed the occasion but a group of us got talking in the queue and thought that the personalisation should be left to the person who had bought the item. No I am not a dealer or anythig like that but I do have a nice collection of autographs and I personally don't like personalised autographs as I think it's a bit tacky.
Meeting Mr Lee was an honour in itself but I thought I would voice my own slight disappointment and see what others had to say.
This was the second time to have met Mr Lee and I would just like to say what a gentleman he is and I hope he continues in the great work he is doing for as long as he can.

It was done by Mr.Lee him self.
He hope's it will stop people getting his autograph and selling it on for a profit, which I think is a good idea, and to try and stop all the fakes that are going around.
As you know we was all told that Mr. Lee would only sign things which was to be personalisation, That was why we was asked to write down the name of the person the item was for before we went in.
It would make it harder to sell on if it was made out to some one.
I think its much better to have some thing made out to your self, i don't see the point of getting a autograph if it not made out to you, or to your friends if they can't get there, as some of the other people in the que did, some wrote out about five names of people who they was collecting for.
Mr. Lee did this, his not like a lot of others who can charge up to £20 per autographs Mr. Lee did not ask for money, it was for his fans, and not to make money, There are not many out there who will sign things when they can't make a porfit.
So I say well done Mr. Lee for taking the time out of his very busy schdeule the meet some of his fans.

It always amazes me that some people prefer non-personalised autographs . Surely the whole point is to make it a personal experience with a memento to match .
I love the fact that my items have " To Matt " on them , it makes them all the more special .
The only non-personalised autograph I have is Peter Cushings as the great man had passed on prior to me obtaining it but I would have dearly loved to have met him and have it personalised .

Well each to their own I suppose. I personally enjoy the experience enough without the personalisation. I was with my other half and she asked if he could just sign his name but he was very stern in his response. We were going to travel to nottingham next week to meet him again but now we are having second thoughts about it.
As for the personalisation , there are three reasons I don't like it A ; the aforementioned tackiness ,
B ; I like to think that if times got really hard money wise I would be able to turn to my collection ( the thought horrifies me , but I am a very logical person )
and C; It,s something to leave my kids when I die and if they want to sell them it's going to be hard with names on them.
Like I said I,m a very logical man and these are just my opinions but I am interested in other peoples opinion

I don't see personalisation as tacky - I see it, like Matt, as a memento, something special that's just yours, and means alot to you, and holds a fanatstic memory. If I ever have to leave my personalised Dooku pic to someone, with my name on, I hope that they remember that it was mine, and that still makes it special in my opinion. It has a history because it belonged to someone from a celebrity they admired.

I didn't go to London, Star38, I'm trying my luck at Nottingham, because I'm only an hour away. Is anyone else going to Notts? I'd like to meet any other CLW members - it'd be fab!

What's the process that happens at the store? (providing I find it! ^_^) Do you queue, buy something, and wait? I'm just nervous about the whole thing - I've got to travel on my own for a start, and though I know Nottingham, I've never been to this shop before where Mr.Lee is... I'm gonna get there early so I can find everything. And I'm nervous about seeing Mr.Lee in person - you know, that kind of exciting nervousness?

And do we just pay for the item? There's no extra cost on top, is there? I don't think there is, but just checking so I can take enough money with me.

If anyone is going, please PM me or something, then we could meet up and have a chat! CLW members union! u_u

Jurious , try to calm down . Even your thread seems nervous .
Take my advice and rehearse what you're going to say .There's nothing worse than just standing there with a stupid grin on your face while MR Lee signs your item because suddenly you're moving on and someone else is having their moment .
Most places let a few people in at a time to purchase something prior to having it signed . Chances are you wo'nt get long so make it count . I do'nt mean a speech , just a few well rehearsed words so you do'nt sound like a babbling idiot . Believe me it's good advice ,when I met Clint Eastwood way back in 1990 I was very inexperienced in talking to celebreties . I did'nt say much and have always regreted it . Thankfully when I met Mr Lee I had thought about it a great deal and managed to say exactly what I wanted . Above all have a great time and get someone to take a photo if possible .
As far as selling my autographs........NEVER

Is it 100% that items not purchased from the cinema store will not be signed ? I know people who got all sorts off items signed at the London signing.
I was thinking if going to the Nottingham signing but am a little dissappointed if I have to buy items from the store which I already have at home.
Will still probably go though Laughing out loud

I have the Official Cinema Store Announcement in front of me>>>

I am in Nottingham. The announcement reads:

-------------------------------------------
CHRISTOPHER LEE (CBE)
Signing in store 1PM Sat 30 Nov

[Boxed]
*Selected "Two Towers" books, Fellowship of the Ring Collector's DVD, Episode 2 DVD/Vhs
[Boxed]

Purchase of 1 item allows 1 personally owned item also.

[Boxed]
Items must be purchased in advance, attendance & proof of purchase required on day of signing.
[Boxed]
--------------------------------------------

So can anyone define for me what exactly is meant by the terms "personal memoralbilia"? Is that different from a "personally owned item" mentioned in this announcement??

Also, I went in to the shop last week and picked up the announcement, and asked if the time was still correct, because I'd read elsewhere that it was 2-5. He said the time on the flyer was correct. Maybe they're just announcing this time to get everyone there in time to get started?

Clarification from those 'in the know' please.

I'm sorry, I mis-typed one word in the announcement which makes all the difference!

In the sentence in the announcement that reads:

"Items must be purchased in advance..."

SHOULD read:

"Items MAY be purchased in advance..."

I did confirm this particular with a store employee the other day.

Apologies.

OK, so that means - buy DVD/VHS/Book. Que for a while. Wait for a bit. Try not to eat fingernails. And be there in person! Well, I never! Wink

Gee, I'm even more nervous now... someone slap me with a wet fish or something!

Ok, so providing I get the right train, and find the shop, and think of something short, but intelligent, to say, I'll be fine... LOL. Oh dear...

Still got a few days to go... and it's now starting about 1pm, not 2pm? Do you think it's best I walk up there and buy something as soon as I get to Notts, then come back (with proof of purchase, and all...) later for the signing? Gods, I do sound like a bag of nerves... I just need to chill.

thansk for the advice, Matt. I'll treasure it.

Jurious - Trust me, you will do just fine. I have had the pleasure of meeting many actors over the years(many from the Star Wars Universe) and they are just regular people. Now I have never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Lee and although you may be a bit nervous, try to keep your cool and speak with confidence.

I have friends who are absolutely terrified to meet celebrities and I often have to get signatures for them because they cannot compose themselves or get up the nerve to speak to them. I just go right up to the actor/actress and introduce myself and let them know how nice it is to meet them. After getting the signature I thank them and shake their hand.

I never stumble over my words gushing about how great and wonderful they are - just that it is a pleasure meeting them and honestly I think they respect that.

You will do Great and we want to hear about your meeting Mr. Lee!

LOL You are just too adorable for words Jurious,

Now take a deep breath.

First get a map so you will be able to find the shop.

Now write down what you would like to say to Mr. Lee.

When you get to the shop, I would buy what you want to, and have the recite handy.

As far as coming back, well see what everyone else is doing. It looks like they hang around until Mr. Lee comes. This really won''t be so bad because you end up talking with other fans, and it pass the time quickly. So go with the flow.

Now one more thing

I really feel like a young member here now, with all this advice I'm getting! Thanks everyone! I've chilled a little, but it's still something huge for me - I've never come close to seeing any celebrity before, never mind Mr.Lee, who I admire so much!

I just need to think of something to say... the rest should be OK. I know Nottingham a little, which is a bit of a confidence booster compared to those coming who've never been to the city before! Smile

You GO Jurious!!!

YOu'll do just great. Just remember how lucky you are to be able to do this. There are a ton of fans here in the US that would give quite a bit to be in your shoes right about now.

Have a great time!

I'm really sad. I can't fly from Germany to England. I've many terms and hearings with my German Red Cross-Group this months and I must go to my work place every day.

I queued inside a stairwell for 5 hours to see Christopher Lee, I can't believe how hot and bright and uncomfortable it was, there were hundreds and hundreds of people with no air and no view other than stairs and stairs and stairs, everyone was chatting away to complete strangers and quite excited between the spurts of excrutiating boredom.

I finally got through to the last section, could see him through the window of the shop and was told we would be the last lot through. Then the worst feeling in the world- the security guard anounced that it was all over and the queue was told to go home, I was about 5 people away from seeing my all time hero and absolutely gutted.

I really didn't realise how much this kind of thing can effect you but the deep feeling of dissappointment is still with me and I can't stop thinking about it.
With the Bond, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings fans being just the kind who appear for these kind of things the number of people was amazing and kind of unfortunate for me.

I had 5 hours to get my meeting-Christopher-speach ready so , if perhaps one day I am lucky enough to just bump into him it will no doubt come rocketing out of my mouth on auto pilot, which should be quite handy I suppose.

Whilst I wasn't there myself, I know the guys at the shop quite well and was able to reserve two 'Visual Companion' books which are hopefully either signed by now, or soon to be inscribed. I understand quite a few people pre-ordered SW and LOTR books etc to be kept at the store for inscription. It's not quite the best way to 'meet' Mr Lee, but heck, if you're working, or it's a bit far to travel, why miss out completely?

I heard they had about 1000 people show up for the signing. They reckon 200 were unable to get anything signed. Mr Lee stayed for an extra hour beyond his allotted time, and the staff still got hassled by disgruntled people who'd qued for X hours. 800+ autos in 4-5 hours, not a bad rate..

I was also aware of the recent decision to personalise the autographs. It seems some persons close to Mr Lee have really got him a shade paranoid about fake Lee autos and real Lee autos on Ebay etc. Whilst I myself have 98% of my collection personalised to me, and understand that there will be a few people there who would want his autograph purely to flog on ebay, I do think there should have been a choice.
