The Official Christopher Lee, CBE Website is pleased to present our first look at Christopher Lee as Count Dooku. The summer issue of the French Lucas Film Magazine carried the above photo of Christopher Lee (Count Dooku) with co-star Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu) on the set of the upcoming Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones.

Thank you. We have loads of them ourselves, the problem is that we do not have any permission to display them. Also, we have to be very careful with which ones we use because we don't want to get Mr Lee our ourselves into trouble.
If something goes up, is because we have permission. It's ok to post a link, but please don't display any pictures.
I totally understand, and I would never do anything to offend Mr. Lee or cause a problem for him or this site.
There will be no problem with the picture I posted earlier though, as it was sent out by the Official Star Wars site www.starwars.com in their newsletter, so it has been made public.
From now on, only links-

It seems especially fitting that Christopher Lee should appear in the new Star Wars film, following in the footsteps of his great friend and contemporary Peter Cushing. Also his presence will help to give the project some much needed gravitas. As a reaction against the simple-minded capering of Jar Jar Binks, I think Christopher Lee should prove to be the perfect antidote!
It's interersting the number of Hammer Vets showing up in Lucas films--and not just in Star Wars. Fans at this site, for example, may have long recognized Anthony Higgins, who appears as a German-speaking Nazi in Raiders of the Lost Ark (George Lucas' other celebrated creation) and who also played the villainous Moriarty in the Young Sherlock Holmes for Steven Spielberg.
Interesting note: Higgins appeared--unless I'm very mistaken, not only in Taste the Blood of Dracula (as young Paul Paxton) but also in Vampire Circus...which I have not seen. He is credited in both films as Anthony Corlan--but his face is unmistakeable.
What I'd like to know is whether he changed his stage name after those films (out of embarrassment?) or is Corlan the stage name and Higgins his real name?
Maybe this should be a contest question.
Anyway, this is a long roundabout way of wondering whether the excellent Michael Gough, another member of the Hammer repertory (as well as an Olivier protege like Peter Cushing) may appear in a Star Wars film...
Best,
John F
A while back I posted something about Mr. Lee in "House of the Long Shadows," referring to that period of his career as coinciding with the peak of his romantic lead looks.
Now that I see the two photos on this page, I have to retract my comment. Christopher Lee could play a romantic lead with no trouble at all, at 79 years old. It boggles the mind.
I don't think I'm the only one who sees it, either!
I sincerely hope that there will not be another Jar Jar (light relief cum marketing device) Binks in this movie. With such skilled actors as Christopher Lee, Samuel Jackson and Ewan MacGregor, it would be a shame to have another computer generated monstrosity to detract from the movie.

Without spoiling anything, I hope, you need not fear. This new one is more of an adventure romance, with less emphasis on kiddie humor.
At least that's what Lucas has said.
Just a personal aside: beware of what you may read on the net regarding SW. There's a lot of deliberate misinformation so as not to spoil the film. Makes for fun reading, though
.

You said it. Acting in front of blue screens all day can be tough. I remember Ewan MacGregor being quoted on his experience in the first movie as being "weeks and weeks of unrelieved tedium."

I was so thrilled when Christopher Lee went from LOTR to Star Wars, what a treat that will be to see him two of my all time favorite movies. He sure looks grand.
Keep Up the great work Mr Lee and congratulations with your latest awards. cannot wait to hear about the occasion.
See everyone later. ( may yet find my way through this maze
)
I heard Christopher Lee relate religion to that of the 'Jedi Knights' from Star Wars, the following statement I found when I logged onto the AOL website this morning!

JEDI FORCES ITS WAY ON TO THE CENSUS
By Laura Borg, PA News
JEDI, the religion of Star Wars heroes Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, has been registered by the Government as the 2001 census count continues.
An email campaign, running at the same time as the census, sought to convince up to 10,000 people to put the fictional faith on their form. It claimed that the Government would then be forced to recognise Jedi as an official religion.
While it is still unclear how many people did list the faith as their own, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has said that enough people have put it down on the form for them to give it its own code, meaning it will appear as an option on the next census.
However, ONS officials are keen to point out that this does not mean it is an officially recognised religion: "When the forms are processed, all data is encoded and we have given Jedi a code because a large group of people have entered it on their forms.
An ONS spokesman said: "We are not saying that this is an official religion.
"As far as I'm aware nobody within the Government will make this an official religion no matter how many people sign up to it."
The census results are still being counted and will not be published until Autumn 2002.
The data on Jedi Knights in Britain will not be included in the final report although the ONS is happy to consider compiling the data if somebody commissions it.

May the force be with You!

I am caught between thinking people seek for something in life, but, this may be going a tad too far to saying , it is a free country and people came to the US for freedom of Religion to begin with, but, George Lucas must then be their head , he is the one who invented this "religion" and thus being the founder also being the master and expert. Shaking my head and understanding the need all at once, thanks for this interesting bit of news H John Blount
and from the article and hma`s post , it seems other countries have this same longing , interesting. I myself Never considered this a possiblity at all, even if I too have had, in the past, desires to be a Jedi
fantasy can go far indeed.
very interesting.
"I heard Christopher Lee relate religion to that of the 'Jedi Knights' from Star Wars, the following statement I found when I logged onto the AOL website this morning!"
I think he was referring more to his idea of God being close to the idea of the Force--in the sense of being present everywhere. But he was pretty emphatic, too about it being One God. The Force comes across as being more imminent, a part of everything, but not in any way a First Cause.
(Of course, it's not a great tribute to organized religions today that something as thin as the Force can be more meaningful to people, say, than the precepts of Confucius, the Tao te Ching, or the Bible...)
I saw an episode 2 review on Aint-it-cool-news.com (careful, its very spoiler heavy) and I thought you might like to know that the reviewer was saying that the best thing about it was Mr Lee and that he couldnt get enough of him. He also said that so far its looking better than Return of the Jedi which is good to hear.
SoulMan
Thanks for the tip. Actually, that reviewer was not the only one to say that about Star Wars II. Today, Mr Lee mentioned a friend of him watching most of the film and saying something very close to that.
People think the film is not going to be that good but they are in for a very big surprise.
Yes! you're right, I've listened to the audio that Christopher Lee relates to religion and the force again and your right, I did get a bit sidetracked. It did stir a few reactions from other members and it made a good post! I personally don't believe in religion (I'm not an atheist) the bible to me is just a story, it could've been written by anyone..if the star of god had been sent to another village..gods son might've been called 'Norman Jones' or 'Dudley Moore' (referring to the film Holy Moses). It just gives people something to believe in, so why not believe in yourself. Any organized religion is a belief and if a few thousand or million want to have the force and be jedi knights....then good luck to them...!

Wow, as much as I am looking forward to LOTR , this upcoming Star Wars treat sounds like it will be as great as all others were to me. I enjoyed these movies since they came out and was very delighted to hear Christopher Lee went from LOTR filming to SW filming. superb. both of my favorites
and I even , do not be shocked, liked JarJar
.
( thought that Battle with and the dwelling place of his people was superb)
super news this latest Star Wars movie will be grand also !
great news for a Monday Morning :1roll:
I agree that once again he looks very commanding and very distingushed ,
and is also very easy to notice too,
and I can't wait to see him in both films LOTR , and Star Wars : Episode II , and I also can't wait for the suprise ending too that people are talking about too , that will say weither that he will be in Episode III also or not I don't know and I can't say otherwise it will spoil it for me , we will have to see what George Lucas has in mind when
Episode III comes out , but I'm willing to wait and see when it comes out to know for sure .
Best Regards

Yesterday the Courier-Journal (our newspaper down here) mentioned in its entertainment news that the trailor for Attack will be shown with Monsters Inc which opens here Friday. Seems a little soon. Probably just a teaser but who knows. . . .
A few months ago they had a little three sentence piece on Mr. Lee and his part in Attack. Actually, until I read the character's name here I thought they were having a little fun with him.
Generally the C-J is right on some level.
Have not been follwoing the Star Wars episode two movies making, ( yes hiding in shame surely my excuse is I am fully in to Lord of the RIngs day and night and beyond ) but, heard they will let us know why Yoda is called the Master and it will hold the history of Boba Fetts people
old news to you all. probably so. thought I would mention it anyways.
wow, those bars on the side are interesting. mine look very pittyful compared to most of yours.
okay ignorance, what are MP HP and EXP. I tried to find my way the other day again and gave up after a while, why do I keep getting so lost here ???
:1roll:
keep safe and happy to all. see you again some day.
Thanks for the scoop Josslyn I don't have the Courier - Journal here but we do have the Tribune , Suntimes , and the Southtown, but I was thinking maybe you could E-Mail me the article , so I could see it and read what Mr. Lee said in it , and I also heard that Yoda is going to wield a lightsaber in this one too , and do some crouching Tiger hidden dragon type moves on Count Dooku / Darth Tyranus
and I also heard that Mace Windu will also wield a lightsaber too , and his fighting style is only second to Yoda's fighting style maybe because Yoda is the supreme Jedi Master do not be juged by his size as he told Luke in the Empire Strikes Back when he tought Luke how to be a Jedi on the request of Obi-Wan Kenobi . and I think that Mr. Lee really does believe in the force .
Best Regards

I have the DVD But havent checked it out because dont want to mess region settings on my DVD-Rom.Anyways I hear Nov 9 will be the time you can download the trailer online anyways.
Just a side note on the Jedi religion idea - I saw an interview with Joseph Campbell, the late American scholar of myth and religion. George Lucas consulted closely with Campbell, conforming the Luke Skywalker story with Campbell's ideas of the "Heroic Journey", an archetype he felt was found in all cultures.
I suppose in a way, the Force concept resonates with many people because Lucas designed it to do so.
Just a thought!
-Dennis
Have you seen the Bill Moyers interviews? It certainly pulls upon Jung's archetypes as culturally pervasive images, esp. the hero "with a thousand faces," as Campbell calls the character archetype. Certainly the traditional male hero goes through the mental/spiritual journey as surely as he goes through the physical one (Odysseus as the thinking man, a different hero from the ones prior to him, like Hercules, for example). Neither Anakin nor Luke Skywalkers could or should be played by he-men types like Arnold Schwarzenegger, their power comes from the force of their minds. Mind over matter, essentially, an idea that again, crosses over from religion to literature, cross references between cultures based upon human experience.
Regarding the "romantic lead" state: I think I'm safe here in saying that all the ladies on board carry a torch for Mr. Lee, or have in the past. It's mellowed to affection and respect (for me), but he'll always look wonderful to us all!
Regarding the Jedi religion: the power of faith in the universe is a deeply mystical experience. It is the essence of God. I don't think it's a religion, but rather a very attractive philosophy incorporating faith from all ages and nations. Like AA's 12 steps, it has something worthwhile to contribute to our culture.

Christopher Lee once again looks very commanding and distinguished. He always is very easy to notice and I cannot wait to see him in his new role!
