A new story entry has been added:
[drupal=647]Triage[/drupal]
Christopher Lee is to star in ‘Triage’, directed by the Oscar winning filmmaker Danis Tanovic (No Man’s Land, 11 Sepetember), who has also written the adapted screenplay from the Scott Anderson’s novel.
Re: Triage
I guess everybody loves the entertainment that comes with film like "Star Wars" and "Lord of the Rings" and Mr. Lee was great in these films.
But this project really is different. It's a serious drama, it's a huge, challening part and it has a meaningful message about the cruelty of war, personal tragedies and forgiveness. From that point of view, this is the most interesting role for Mr. Lee since "Jinnah".
As I said in another thread, I'm sure that this film will be shown in cinemas all around the world, many festivals and probably win some awards.
I ordered the novel on which this film is based on and I'm looking forward to the book and the film.
I might add a little correction of the information given by Juan: the current distributor plans to start selling film right at the Cannes festival market this May, but don't expect the film to be completed by then.
Re: Triage
This sounds very interesting. Colin Farrel can be extremely good given the right material. It'll be nice to see him working with Christopher Lee.
The first real time I saw Colin Farrel on screen, was in the film Phonebooth, and was so impressed, I immediately bought the DVD. He is exceptional in that film. It's only a relatively short film, but he gives a very strong performance from beginning to end. It will be so good to see him and Mr Lee on screen together.

I am sorry to say that I am not familiar with Colin Farrel; however, I am looking forward to this film....It does sound interesting..
Best to all on this film.

Re: Triage
WOW!!! What magnificent news Juan!!! Thank you!!!
God save you, Sir Christopher Lee!!! I can not wait for see You, My Lord, playing that notable retired psychiatrist called Joaquin!!! Congratulations Mr Lee!!! I love you Master Lee!!!
All the best,
Christian
Re: Triage
I agree completely with David up there - these are good times for Christopher Lee fans
And Steve's right - HanWay Films is selling the film at Cannes in May but production is only set to finish in June. For those of you not familiar with Colin Farrell, he's not quite world-famous yet but he was in the recent 'In Bruges' where, like Matt said, he was good cos it was the right material (sorry Isabel, I tried looking for a Brazil release date but it's a limited release film and isn't making it to South America - he was in Miami Vice though if you want to see it
)
It's described as a dark psychological thriller - Steve's right in that Mr Lee's role will be deep and quite challenging, given the director's past successes. I for one can't wait to see it.
Re: Triage
Haha, funnily enough I read this message right after I ordered the book from Amazon - it should be a good read, especially since I might be a psychiatrist myself some day (I could pick up some tips from Mr Lee).
Think the author'll notice that his sales went up as soon as Christopher Lee's involvement in the film was announced?
Re: Triage
It's quite early fr this type of hype...but I am quite excited because after reading the book and knowing how wonderful a performer Mr. Lee is, something is screaming out to me: Awards! This is a drama made with a good budget by and Academy Award winning director, and while I think award nominations don't mean a thing when it comes to ability, does anyone else think that this may be THE role that Mr. Lee could get a nomination at "The Academy Awards" and "The Golden Globes" for perhaps a Best Supporting actor?
Re: Triage
I agree Josh, this certainly looks like a part and a film that could well result in awards for many concerned. Fingers crossed, Mr Lee will be recognised for what appears to be a substantial role. I am thinking of getting the book soon as well.
I really am very excited about it's forthcoming release.
All the best.
Re: Triage
Hi Everyone, I found this blog that talks about Mr. Lee and the film Triage. It is a nice bit, and there are some pictures of Mr. Lee on the set of Triage.
If you have the time and are interested, here is the link.
This is what I do.: Mr Lee and me

One of the "Telegraph" pictures of the day from May 21th:

Colin Farrell being pushed in a wheelchair by Christopher Lee during filming of 'Triage' in Dublin, Ireland.

Re: Triage
 WOW. What fantastic news! This sounds like a loverly project for Mr. Lee! Colin Farrel as his son? That sounds pretty awesome! I hope it gets a theatrical release...considering it's being released at Canne's, but if not, films like this are almost always released on DVD (well...from my knowledge anyway....I own a few Cannes winners myself)
Can't wait for this! Thanks for letting us know!
