Re: Barbara Shelley

Barbara had some bad health last year but I heard she's pulled through and having a much better time now.

Re: Barbara Shelley

Not to make myself look like a doofus or anything, the heat could be frying my brain, but... who is this woman and why are we talking about her? Smile

Re: Barbara Shelley

Barbara Shelley is probably most famous for her roles in Dracula Prince of Darkness, Rasputin The Mad Monk and The Gorgon. I believe that she was Sir Christopher's favourite Hammer leading lady.

Nice to hear that Barbara Shelley is doing fine again after her health scare. She has always been my favourite Hammer female star.

Re: Barbara Shelley

Happy that Bárbara is well. She is my favorite actress.
I feel a great sympathy for her, I consider the best actress of Hammer that worked with Mr. Lee.

Re: Barbara Shelley

I thought Barbara Shelley was a very fine actress. I particularly enjoyed her part in Dracula, Prince Of Darkness. Her transformation from the very prim and proper wife, who looked down her nose at most people, into a seductive, blood thirsty vampire, was a wonderful example of her acting skills.

No problem Kelly! I'm very good at remembering actors names and all sorts of useless trivia but if I'm asked to remember to buy a loaf of bread or something like that I forget in an instant!

Steve, I agree with you about Barbara Shelley - a fine and very underrated actress.

Re: Barbara Shelley

Thank you for the info regarding Barbara Shelley and her recovery.Barbara Shelley has been one of my all time favourite actors since childhood. She was,as mentioned, truly magnificent in Dracula: Prince Of Darkness, especially the transition from the elegant elitist snobbish lady to the vicious vampiress. No woman i have ever seen, has ever come as close to acting an elegant lady,as Barbara Shelley did in that movie. The way Barbara Shelley can make the beauty in her face fluctuate, from regal elegance to simple innocence,is truly astounding and unique to me,and i will always watch her on tv and cut her pictures out of magazines.I find Barbara Shelley surpassed herself in a movie she was in called: Quatermass and the Pit,also when she was in Village of the Damned.
Barbara Shelley played Mrs Gardiner in the movie: Pride and Pejudice, and shone with exactly the same grandeur, elegance and beauty as she did when she was in Dracula: Prince of Darkness. Here is a link that contains a lovely picture of Barbara Shelley playing Mrs Gardiner:
