I dunno, but I like what I've seen so far! Do you get money by posting? Does it depend on 'points'?

I've noticed that with your forum money you can 'buy' things from the Forum shop - I like the sound of a 'glowing name' or a 'custom title'! Let's get saving, people! Laughing out loud

I think it is accumulated every time you post something
You then have ability to buy features for your profile.
I was looking around and it must be one of the new features introduced by our esteemed webmaster & co.
These features include "SFX" for member name etc etc similar to ability to have an avatar after certain amount of posts.
Im just guessing tho
Sure admin will post something about new features Smile

That all sounds interesting. I'm sure Juan will elaborate on it soon enough.

Colin, if you think you're lost I must be orbiting some distant universe. I never noticed that coming up under my name when I log in.
I don't really use the internet for interactions on forums (this one being the only exception) so I have no idea how other sites run this sort of thing.
Somehow I don't think it has to do with how much you post. Maybe it's level of participation in contests, etc.

I started working on this over a year ago, but then left it.

Once it is completed, this page and a couple more will be linked and become active.

http://christopherleeweb.com/forums/store.php

Basically, money is collected automatically taking into consideration certain variables. It goes well beyond the forums, money is earned for submitting reviews, useful liks, composing quizzes, articles, artwork, helping other members, referral bonuses, etc, etc.

This money can be later exchanged at any time for several fun stuff for use at the forum.

You will also be able to buy a lottery tickets which will automatically pick up the winning number at random every month.

After a period of time, the five richest members will get serious prizes which will not be disclosed just yet. All I can tell you is that the'll be no more autographs as prizes.

Although you are collecting some money now for certain things automatically, I would try and not buy anything right now until the serious stuff comes up. Save all you can!!!

No, but this is going to be much more fun than meets eye. I hope that people don't take things too seriously and start arguments over it, after all everything is just another game. When people have nothing to say or do, they don't acummulate points and unless they win the lottery jackpot they stand no chance. There is still a way, you can play a villain, become an insurance company or the Godfather. Those with hopes of becoming really rich will need mafia protection or insurance.

You can steal points from others but we aware.

If you successed you get points but lose some karma.

if you failed you pay penalty (the same amount you try to steal)

If you have negative point balance you can't write until someone pays ransom to bail you out.

if you steal from insured user you pay 20% bribe to insurance agents and victim receive insurance cover

if you try to steal from mafia protected user you and victim pay a half to godfather

In any case a villain will waste some karma exept when stealing no more than 5 points a time

There will be of course limits to what you can steal.

I'll have this whole system working by the weekend, don't forget to buy your lottery tickets right now.

I forgot, there will also be a bank where you can deposit all your savings. Works just like normal ones do, you can invest, earn interest, etc.

hmmm....where did this warped idea come from? Smile It does sound like fun and hopefully we wont see too much crud on the board to just get points (hmmm... could this post be classed as crud...I spose so Smile )
I will start practising my pick pocketing skills and may even call my uncle to get some mafia protection....through my italian connections.

I'm glad someone asked this question. I was wondering the same thing, but I spent a while digging through the various areas of the site to make sure I didn't miss it in the FAQ, a previous post, or some other semi-obvious place.

Jeeze! I'm gone for two weeks and and when I return I see a whole new system is in place, money has been installed, insurance and trading are flourishing, and the Mafia is lurking about!

I feel like. . . . Gorbachev!

I've been gone from here 5 days working on other things trying to make some money and then come in and find out everyone has money but me! Gads.

This sounds like some of the zaniest rules since Arena Football began in USA. Something like a cross between THE GODFATHER, THE SOPRANOS, the old LET'S MAKE A DEAL TV show and the even older Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company's WILD KINGDOM TV program!

("Make Juan an offer he can't refuse.")
("Just tell me who took your CL dollars and fugeddabowdit.")
("So do you want to keep the $500 or trade it for what's behind door number 3?")
("Just like the bears of the Yosemite, we also have to protect our young. Just look at that 12 foot tall grizzly gnawing off Jim's arms to protect it's cubs! Fortunately, to protect your family, you can trust Mutual of Belgravia.")

I'm shocked to find out that I need $700 to change my avatar. While I am getting tired of this avatar, I need new brakes on the car first. Cool

OLD SOUL that was a really cute post you made with all the avatars.

I do hate paying insurance, but hey...."You're in good hands with Juanstate." :uhoh:

Sorry guys, I haven't had any time to finish completely these feature. Hopefully in the next two days.

All I can tell you is that the first price will be something to die for and that you should try and save all the money you can.

Notice that the variables do not favour spaming contests but quality. You'll soon find out.

The good thing about not having an avatar is that it can't be changed. Although I imagine something hideous could be added outright. Pink bunnies or something awful.
The feature that I wondered about was the yellow and red card feature. Are those issued if someone gets into trouble here (like in soccer)? Maybe it's like George Carlin's "flag on the play."
If I wanted to donate money to someone, how could I go about that? It lists it as being a free option but the money must come from somewhere. If not my account then where?

I have to say that this is a great idea Juan has come up with. Never before has a forum become interactive like this. It adds a totally new dimension to forums.

Thumbs up Juan!Smile

We have now agreed on some prizes. On the 31st of August 2003, the 5 richest members will be winning the following.

1st price. Two Airline tickets and hotel accomodation in London for 5 days. An audience with Mr Lee.

2nd price. Single Airline ticket and 3 days hotel accomodation in London. An audience with Mr Lee

3rd price. Gold life-time membership
4th price Gold life-time membership
5th price Gold life-time membership

This is just a general draft. Rules will apply.

Between tonight and tomorrow, every feature will be up and running, all FAQ and rules will be published.

Just remember that the way this works, it's not a spaming contest as the serious money is earned by posting reviews, artwork, quality articles, high scores in quizzes, other special features which will be explained etc, etc, etc.

We will not discuss or give away the exact money values that each feature gives out. These use complicated formulas and percentages and at no time I will be willing to discuss, modify or change anything. By using this site, you are agreeing to its terms and conditions. Anyone who disagrees, is free not to use the site. I sincerely hope that everyone, regarless of what the outcome is or how they decide to collect their money is respected, including the Villains. Spaming me to death with question, complaining about not getting much money for this or that or moaning or reporting other members, will result in money fines.

Remeber that regarless of the prizes, it is a game and it's here to save me time and a fun way for members to contribute to the site and be helpful.

Your money will not be reset at any time and regular batabase backups will be made.

Lotery result:Picking random user....
Random user picked, this time the lucky one is: TrjnAsst

Checking if TrjnAsst bought a ticket.....

'TrjnAsst' didn't buy a ticket. Lottery will stay online.

This is an automated script. Since there is no winner, the jackpot will be added to the next draw. You can now a new ticket for next week's.

I guess your drawings and other contributions of the past have been awarded to you by the esteemed admin guy.
It is an awesome prize and will definately have a lot of competition.
Can I put some money on who is gonna get the prize? can we add that as a feature? we have the lottery why not a betting book as well to allow gamblers chance to win more cash Smile. Otherwise I'm gonna have to work for the money !! Smile

The past does not count and it is not me who gives the money out, it's the system. It's a collection of formulas and percentages which are already into place.

I don't think anyone here, not even me can predict who will win. It's not a spaming contest and good effort in a couple of well presented contributions can earn you more money that 1000 posts. So can careful investment, reading books and keeping up with what's going on. But then again, good posts compliment other things and add to those too. So do reading other's posts, helping asnwer questions from fellow members etc. Many variables, avarage member statictis, etc are used in these formulas. The name of the game is sharing.

I am speechless,

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect those prizes!
I more or less expected a letter from Mr. Lee, or perhaps a chance to chat with him on pal talk.

All I can say is:

WOW
