Here´s a very strange community that I found. Take a look:
http://groups.msn.com/ChrisLeeHomeagesite/home.htm
I must say that I was stunned when I read this. I wonder were the person who runs it got this strange article. I wonder what Mr. Lee would think if he saw this??

Slight typo, Jacob.

The article appears to be attributed to the Jackson Gazette from Mississippi, but whether that's true or not...
If this isn't a deliberate hoax, has anyone contacted this newspaper?
I can't find the newspaper online, but that might not indicate anything. The thing that's tipping me into thinking that at least the guy who set up the site believes it, is that there hasn't been more participation... no one would go to the trouble of setting up a hoax like that, and not make sure people fell for it.
Because I´m not a member of that website, I don´t know who posted the article. I only became a member temporarily so that I could post a message there and see if the owner would answer, but I haven´t heard anything.
I did mail Juan the link to that site, so that he too could see what stupid things people on the net post, but I haven´t heard from him since then.

Some one needs to be Shot for that, Mr. Lee can sue.
Thats not funny
While it may be a hoax of some kind, there's a possiblity it's an accident. Most newspapers keep pre-written obits on file, and occasionally they get run by accident. It's creepy when they do (and the invented quotes are really questionable if this did actually appear in a paper), but there's a chance it wasn't done as a joke. Hard to say until someone tracks down the paper...
Geeze, you people are so cynical about human nature... cluelessness and poor research are so much more common than malicious intentions, even online.
Hi all!
I just found out from a guy who´s a member my Star Wars Trading Centre Community that there are no newspaper with the name Missisippi Gazette (or whatever) anywhere in Missisippi (he lives there, so he should know), and he thinks that the article may have been made by the owner of the community, on his own computer, and then put on the net. I personally think that he may be right on that, and if so, the owner of the community should have it removed. But that´s just my opinion. I don´t know about the rest of you.

This article is terrifying, and the reporting is shotty, but this kind of thing is certainly not new. As Mark Twain said in response to his obit. in a newspaper in May 1897, "The report of my death was an exaggeration".
Sadly, reporting isn't any better after 100 years AND the computer age!
At first I was going to say "Let's not be too harsh. Newspaper have made errors in the past. It could be an honest mistake." But, then, something began worrying at me. First of all, when I tried to find that particular newspaper online to send them an e-mail protesting the story, they are nowehre to be found. And, more importantly, would a fan creating a memorial website/community to his/hero have an obituary notice as the group picture? For example, if I were to create a website to the memory of Peter Cushing, I wouldn't put his death notice up as the frontispiece to the website. Psychologically it doesn't make sense. The purpose of a memorial website is to comemorate the person's life, not highlight their death.
The only reason to put an obituary up as the group picture is to convince web surfers that the individual is indeed dead. In other words, the only thing that DOES psychologically make sense is that this is a conscious hoax on the part of the group owner.
I could be wrong, I hope I'm wrong. But I now think that that MSN community is an attempt to spread a deliberate hoax.
This article is terrifying, and the reporting is shotty
The 'reporting' appears to have been taken, near verbatim, from Mr. Lee's autobiography. Also which obituary of a film star would neglect to mention that star's most popular films or most famous roles? This just convinces me even more that this is a fake newspaper CREATED FOR THAT MSN COMMUNITY in order to spread a deliberate hoax.
I agree with Alfonso. I thought exactly the same when I read that 'news'... It's very strange that they don't mention, for example, Dracula or Mr. Lee's Hammer films... The biography is far too long and detailed... I remember reading an article or interview wth mister Lee very similar... I think it is not a real newspaper...
But we must make light of this... It 's just a practical (and very macabre) joke. It's typical in jokers to 'kill' celebrities... I know several cases.
Does anyone know how this can be reported to MSN and to request that it be removed?
I've searched the MSN Website, but I can't find an e-mail address.
Try this:

Whatever it was, it's gone now.
