I just saw the movie today and thought it was so cool. For an action movie it was very interesting. It puts a spin on some characters from great novels. What are your opinions on it?

planning on seeing it very soon, probably in the next couple of days or so. It looks wonderful and from what I've read, well worth the viewing.

Pirates of the Carribean was quite entertaining, I thought.

Oh man...League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, or as I've come to call it The League of Unimpressive Caricatures is the biggest film disappointment I've had in many years. Waste of time, effort, money and brilliant literary source material. Read the graphic novel instead.

My more explicit thoughts (SPOILER ALERT) on the film can be had here

Cheers!

I have been waiting to see that one.
I seen lots of clips, and it looks good to me, mind you it may not have much of a story to it but I'm going to see it as soon as its out near me.

I have heard many poor things about this film since it came out on Friday...but I'll still see it. I heard poor things about Pirates too but came away thoroughly enjoying it. Oh well, just have to see. Lately the biggest disappointment I've had in many years was The Matrix Reloaded...I haven't come so close to walking out of a theater for over 10 years.

I also saw 28 Days Later last weekend. Did anyone else see this film?

Thanks, Charles, for the head's up! After putting myself through the tortures of the unbelievably awful HULK; I think I'll trust you and save myself the disappointment and expense of LXG.

Charles.
If only the film was as good as your review.
An outstanding piece of literary eloquence. Smile

28 days, no good as well ! I was thinking of getting that one.
I do admit that it was on sell early, thats always a sign that it was a flop.
The same as DareDevil, that was out to quick.

Saw it the day after seeing LXG just to get the taste out of my mouth. Thought 28 Days Later started very, very well, but bogged down once the characters went North. Ending was rather weak. That being said, it was one of the more interesting and effective sci-fi/thriller/zombie films I've seen. Edgy and tinged with remarkably effective visuals. Owes a fair bit to John Wyndham's The Day of the Triffids, but in a good way!

Cheers!

I agree with Charles about "The league...."
I saw it this week-end, and beside some good effects, nothing merges , the characters, the story, i also hated the "mr. Hyde" looks, it was like a "street bum HULK on amphetamines".
Not a very good movie.
I also saw "Pirates of the Carribean" and this one is very good, you feel like you are 10 years old again ,it's fun it's brilliantly acted and the effects are amazing , and never steal the show, they are only there to support the film.
i recommand this one.

Ah Colin, you are far too kind. My write-up on the dreadful League of Extraordinary Gentlemen film was one of the more difficult review pieces that I've ever been compelled to write, far less coherent and relevant than I'd like, but my thanks for your kindness none the less!

One of the problems for me in writing up a piece on LXG (and I hate that non-sensical American studio acronym that is about as exploitive as it is insulting) is that I'm writing as a Sherlock Holmes fan who loved the comic-book source material, as it is full of Sherlockian and general Victorian literary atmosphere and characters. So when the much troubled production finally hit the screen, the loss of much of the literary elements plus the bastardized approach to the minor Sherlock Holmes elements didn't sit well with me. Happily the film was a total mess in most respects, so in the end my negative review was based less on the comic to screen elements and the Sherlock Holmes bits, than it was on just bad film-making and mediocre acting. Dear me, I seem to have lost my train of thought (another tin of Kokanee please)...anyhow, thanks for visiting the site and reading the review!

Cheers!
