I just wanted to say that Mr. Lee plays the best villians in the world. I don't think I would really like to see him play good characters because he is so talented at being "evil". My boyfriend complains about that. He says that I should like the good guys, not the ones who go around killing people.
Oh well, that's just my opinion. I think that Mr. Lee was the best Dracula ever, and I also adored him as Scaramanga, in the "Man with the Golden Gun."
I just had to vent. Thanks for listening..
Christopher Lee can play anything good or bad. My opinion...,He is a perfect cast as a villian for the voice, that stare, the height. If i was casting a villian he would always be the best choice. Thats why everyone was so happy to see him in Star Wars. Star Wars have great villians and Christopher Lee plays a villian greater than anybody. I would pay to see him play anything Bad guy or Good guy ..but who could be a better bad guy than CL??Cant think of anyone
What I love about Mr. Lee's portrayal of "the villain" is the depth he brings to the characters. He gives them a feeling of humanity. Every facet of the villain's personality is apparent. When I saw him as Saruman, I could still see the ghost of a wizard who was once great, not just a fallen, arrogant villain. I, too, see Dooku as an ambiguous character- who else could have played that part better than Mr. Lee? He brings out the subtle, as well as the obvious characteristics.
That's why it's fun to cheer for his villains, they aren't just cardboard cutouts of "pure evil."

Nicely put Lain.
That just how I see him, its as if he is the person Mr. Lee is playing.

One of the more moving scenes for me is just after Sauron has ordered Saruman to build an army worthy of Mordor. Just before the Orc appears to ask him what he wants, saruman is sitting in his chair. Now I know the story that says Mr. Lee hurt his hand and was just trying to hide that fact. But what I saw was so much more than that...
I saw a man who was about to take that irrevocable one step into damnation. And he knew it too...
A wonderful scene that was beautifully played.

Mr. Lee has played so many great villains, Rochefort, Dracula, Frankenstein, Scaramanga. I thought he was super as the mummy. When he came back to "life" as the mummy and sees the woman who resembles Ananka, the way he emoted with his eyes only said more than words ever could have. With or without words, Mr. Lee conveys so much. When he steps into character, you really believe he is that character. His portrayal of villains certainly does go beyond the "cardboard cut-out".

This is very ture, any part that Mr. Lee play's he becomes that character, he is that character.
There are not many actors/actress that can say that.
Mr. Lee is turely a great actor, and he gives his all for every part he plays.

Very much to my regret, I have not had the chance to see as many movies starring Christopher Lee as most people here, as many are not so easy to obtain in Austria, but from what I have seen, heard and read I can honestly say I find him to be the greatest actor I know of. He plays an excellent villain, that's for sure, but another thing that has already been said is just how he becomes the character he is playing. With a lot of actors I don't think of them as the character they are playing but as "so-and-so playing so-and-so", with Mr. Lee he just is the character.
Does anyone watch The Tv show ALIAS? well I happend to watch an episode i believe it was from last week or this week i'm not sure. anywys The Lead Character Sydney Played by Jennifer Garner of Daredevil was captured at one point and the villian that was threating her reminded me of how Christopher Lee would have been perfect as that villian. he was on of those villians that just give you the creeps like a lot of Lee's villans does.
i agree that mr.lee plays the best villains in the best way a actor can do (maybe because he must be a very nice person in the real life), but i even love to see him in movies like the private lifes of sherlock h.or 1941, to see, that he can play funny roles even as good.

I think Mr.Lee makes a wonderful villain - he can play good guys, too, of course, but he doesn't half make a 'good' bad guy - if you catch my meaning!
My first memory of Mr. Lee is as Rochefort in The 3 Musketeers, and, although I didn't know who he was then, I really became fond of the character of Rochefort created by Mr. Lee, and thought he was fantastic! I hated it when he got defeated in the end of The 4 Musketers... heh.
I love him as Scaramanga, Saruman, and various others, but am very partial to his performance as Count Dooku in Star Wars - Dooku isn't a clear villain, and is a very ambiguous character, but I love the way Mr. Lee plays him, acting even when he isn't speaking through slight gestures and movements. I just grin when I watch Dooku take on Obi-Wan in the final duel, as he taunts and teases him in the most fantastic manner - he really is downright evil then!
He's just so good!
As one AotC review put it, 'And Christopher Lee... well, he's Christopher Lee and we love him for it.' In a nutshell as far as any Lee film is concerned.
