Here's something REALLY interesting, a website that claims to be the "Official" Count Dooku fanlist. Does any one know anything about this? It appears very well done.

Well, the name's cool, anyway...but there doesn't seem to be much to it, Alfonso.

Am I missing something?

I don't think you miss something Dave.

Not much info and very clumsy to navigate.

It appears to be still under construction. The images are nicely done though. But what caught my attention is the use of the word "official."

To be an "official" Dooku site probably requires Lucasfilm's stamp of approval rather than Mr. Lee's. I doubt they're giving that approval to fan sites, although you never know.

Well, it is a boring site. I agree with Alfonso, the images are nice, and it primarily looks well made, although it's a case of trial-and-error when it comes to working out the navigation. I think the only thing 'official' about it is that it's ben accepted as the fanlisting for Dooku on thefanlisting.com, or whatever it is.

I'll probably link my site up to it, regardless - it's kinda just like a fancy webring.

If that's the case, then it's a bit misleading. More than a bit, actually.

I didn't like it hard to get into.
Is it right that they can call them selfs 'official'.
Not much on the front of the site, maybe I take another look in a few days, it might be better.

There's not much in the site, either! Tongue Nothing actually on El Conde Dooku - it's just a big webring hub...

And, no, I don't think they should be allowed to call themselves 'official', because technically it isn't. To be offical, it'd have to have Lucasfilm's backing really.
I've been to one website before for a TV programme, and they called themselves 'The Officially Unofficial' site for that show. LOL - I thought that was witty.

...several things.

Doesn't look like they are linking to anything without permission, but I could be wrong about that. If they are, that is bandwidth theft.

I also noticed that there is a clickable link that, when you click it, at least in Netscape 7.01, it opens a small window that is starwars.com. But that is part of the misleading design of the site, I suspect.

I imagine I would learn more if I were to open it in the "evil empire" )Micro$oft IE6) but, since it doesn't really have anything that interests me other than the images, I think I'll pass.

'preciate the good intentions, though Alfonso.

Pfft! Microsoft rocks. Ok well maybe not but IE is far superior to crappy Netscape anyday.

Oh did I mention how crap Netscape is?:frostyang

Yeah, but saying IE is better than Netscape is like saying that eating live maggots is better than eating moose turd pie (or maybe vice versa).

Opera's definitely the way to go.

That's some mighty tasty cuisine ya got there, Brandi. I'll have a side of supporating pustules (Windows 2000) with that to go.:facelick:

The first browser was Mosaic, from there Netscape was born. Internet Explorer copied Netscape all it could until MS decided it had cornered the market. Then MS killed NS by developing their own code and copywriting it. Those where the days of the Browser wars and MS won simply because more people were using its products and not because it was superior. Opera is basically a slim version of IE using similar programing, thus interpreting language in the same way.

No one is better. If MS decides to change its code again, Opera will simply die in the same way as NS did.

The most popular browser is the one webmasters code for, the one that most people will use.

As for Microsoft being evil, let's not forget than even their practices are not very ethical, without MS most of you would not be able to use a computer. I can't see the average computer user running unix comand lines, never mind being able to configure a system.

I'll leave Apple Mac aside because we will never know if without MS they could have made it into the home computer or not. Today they are a very good alternative, in some departments much better.

Well said Juan, I couldn't have put it any better than that.

I still think Netscape is crap though. Laughing out loud

Well, I'm not convinced that Micro$oft is responsible for all the evils in the computer world. However, I also got sick of everytime I accidentally clicked and opened an attachment in OE, ending up with some stray virus, despite ALLEGEDLY having expensive virus protection.

Nowdays, I don't use OE, and let's just say, I have not found a need to worry as much about spending money I don't have anyway on viruses I no longer have to worry about.

Pfft! Microsoft rocks.

C# is indeed nifty, but it's mainly nifty because it's Java, with some C/C++ compatability features. Otherwise, Microsoft's kinda crap, with the whole aggressive monopolistic practices/expensive yet mediocre and inefficient product/chewing up and spitting out fresh-out-of-college programmers/security holes and Outlook exploits/etc... somehow the fact that IE loads faster doesn't quite make up for it. Not when there's Opera. Plus, IE doesn't recognize the tag, which is endlessly useful. Smile

Mac OS is based on Linux, apparently (or so my Mac-lover friends say), so the lack of user-friendliness isn't inherent in UNIX-based operating systems. Linux has been pretty quickly catching up with some of the more recent Red Hat releases, and the new cheap PCs running Lindows may start a stronger race with Windows... it'll be fun to see, anyway, for those of us who like using Linux. But, as someone who's happy with Linux, the ethics of Microsoft's business practices are sort of key.

Just bringing back up this ol' topic...the website that Alfonso brought our attention to some time ago now is now closed. I can tell you all now that it was part of the Fanlistings network, a website which hosts links to thousands of mini-sites, each hosting merely a list of fans of a certain topic (anything from actors to books to colours!). The one in question was the Count Dooku Fanlisting.

Back to my point: it was closed - and I thought this a great shame, with Dooku having so many fans, soooo... I've taken over the job and re-opened it! Laughing out loud It's called the 'official' listing, but is only official as far as it has been approved by the Fanlistings website goes. I just thought that I'd mention it.

New Count Dooku Fanlisting

And, going back to the browser subject, if anyone's on a browser other then IE or Netscape and would like to just see if the site works all right in your browser for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. It's best on an 800 x 600 screen as far as I know, because that's what I've got! Smile

Okay, I admit, shameless plug...
