Has anybody else seen the Film: Scream Of Fear starring Mr Lee?
I have been waiting for this film to reappear on t.v for a few years now,and tonight,it was on.It starred Susan Strasberg,as Penny Appleby, a young lady who had been crippled,and travels to the french riviera to visit her father,only to be told he's missing.It was made by Hammer,and is superb.It is one of the early Hammer black and white films,and it is so well made.It is similar in pace as Paranoiac and The Damned,in that it is refreshing and gentle to watch,with a seriously gripping tale full of tension and suspense.Mr Lee played a psychiatrist/psychologist trying to drop hints that her physical paralysis may actually be a mind problem,where in Penny may be physically well,but her mind is convinced her body is still damaged.

I've seen it a few times and it kept me guessing through the whole movie. I was SURE who it was and...well, don't want to spoil it for those who haven't had the chance to see it yet. It was the first time I've heard Mr. Lee do a french accent. I loved it. but then I love his own accent. What can I say, it's an american thing...we love accents. (except our own)

Hi everyone.
I rate this movie very highly. The atmosphere and plot twists and shocks along the way. It 's almost "Hitchcockian" in it's style. I think everyone in the cast were excellent.... even the corpse gave a memorable performance... if you watch it, which I highly recommend, you'll know what I mean.
I think the fact that it is in black and white, adds to the atmosphere. I remember seeing this film for the first time, when I was a teenager, and being genuinely chilled by certain scenes.

I will have to watch it again soon, now I have it on DVD at last.

I totally agree with the black and white aspect of a film,adding more tension and atmosphere.One of my all time favourite movies,which i know can never be replicated in that respect,is Horror Hotel,especially the end scene when the cross is being carried by a staggering victim towards the devil worshippers.The silhouette effect is magnificent,simply because it is black.I usually find colour films let a bit too much light in,and destroy a scene that requires blackness,as in a silhouette.
I will never tire of watching Scream Of Fear,especially now i can get hold of it.The actors were so good,they completely fooled me,so the ending came as a real surprise to me also Kelly.

Q: I am NOT English... My background is Danish / German..... BUT! I'm curious as to how the hell can Mick Jagger be Knighted, but then that NOT be the case with Chris Lee.?.? Lee is a respectable Englishman if their ever was one.... What gives?

That is thing even of American south... I adore accents also.

I grew up with this movie in the 'eighties, as I have vivid memories of watching it late at night on my black and white portable (it was one of those movies which often popped up on tv).

I love the old horror classics in Black & White...... I'm a funny guy, and I think color can sometimes ruin an eerie effect.... I do like / enjoy "Hammer" films and all, but "Universal" studios rules in the horror film business........ Cheerio...
