I don't know how many people here buy the SW Factfile (a weekly SW magazine in the UK, perhaps available elsewhere), but it basically, week-by-week, prosites/christopherleeweb.com/files factors of the SW saga, from main events, through characters, planets, droids, technology and weapons to transports. The other week, it profiled our Count Dooku. The content wasn't overly juicy, but I've scanned and copied the first few paragraphs below.
I'll get some more done soon if anyone is interested.
[=red]COUNT DOOKU
[i]ENIGMATIC AND POWERFUL, COUNT DOOKU WAS A DANGEROUS AND MYSTERIOUS FIGURE ABOUT WHOM EVEN HIS OWN ALLIES KNEW LITTLE
More, Jurious, MORE!
That's fabulous! I've already saved what youv'e already posted, for my fanfic.
Yes, I'm STILL writing it. Just still not quite sure how I want to go about ending the thing. I hate hackneyed, overdone endings that EVERYONE thinks of, or that are WAY too predictable. But, on the other hand, I AM a writer of Star Wars soap opera at heart, to some degree as well, with a slight erotic touch (you know who you are - Are you reading this? Yes, you would like my stories!)

How does one get to read this fanfic that you are teasing us with???
Oh, it is a good fanfic...
Haven't read it for some time, mind you - have you got any further, Arlyss?
Anyway, the article is from a weekly magazine called Star Wars Factfile- people in the UK can either subscribe via post, or order it from a newsagents. It's £1.99 a week, but the info is often in depth, and the illustrations are good - well worth it if you're a fan!
I'll try and get the rest of the article up, and scan some of the pics soon.
OK, will have more info soon. First, a few other lil tit-bits of interesting info supplied through various parts of the factfile:
- Dooku himself was once held captive in the Stalagasin Hive in which Kenobi was imprisoned, and said to have remained just as strong under the torturous forcefield that surrounded him and pentrated his body with electrical surges...
- Jocasta Nu, the Archive librarian, considered Dooku one of the greatest Jedi she had ever met. His golden bust in the Jedi Archives was her favourite; she remarked to Kenobi as he looked upon the bust about his 'powerful eyes'.
- Obi-Wan Kenobi considered Qui-Gon Jinn and Dooku very similar in nature, but thought that, whereas Jinn could draw a line in discussions and debates, Dooku was relentless and incorrigible, and 'an exhausting individual'...
Interesting, no...?
Here's the set-out of page one of the Dooku factfile, the text of which is above. Notice the two lightsabres at the bottom...?:

Jurious,
Does this seem to imply that Obi-Wan had come into contact with Dooku before? Perhaps Obi was just drawing this conclusion from things he had heard about Dooku? It seemed pretty obvious, in the hive, that Dooku and Obi had not met before..but this thing in the bio-file almost sounds like they have...
RogueJedi,
The reason why the article may not fit with the movies is the following. There is Star Wars canon and Star Wars non canon. Canon is everything that happens in the films or written by George Lucas. Everything else i.e. books, magazines etc written by authors are non canon. All non canon can be considered as an Alternate Universe from the Star Wars films.
This is the best theory fans can come up with, as some of the books completely contradict the films, especially from the old trilogy. I think there may have been an article on www.starwars.com relating to the canon debate a while ago.
Count Orlok, that debate has gone on forever.
It's indeed true that an article was published on sw.com. In fact, George Lucas himself made a statement about why the books, etc. don't match up with the movies.
He basically says that the novels and comics and games and other stuff constitute a "parallel universe" to the movies, and are not necessarily congruient with them all the time. Makes sense to me. :vader:

And it's more polite than saying "They're MY movies, get lost, people!":1devil:
Hey RogueJedi!
Just wanted to reply to your query myself:
I don't think Dooku and Kenobi ever did meet before, or, if they did, it would have been brief, and I guess when Kenobi would have been very young. I think Master Dooku had quite a reputation in the circles of the Jedi, and when one comes to know a person's reputation, as Kenobi inevitably would have, I think that one sometimes believes that they know the person - if you catch my drift.
Plus, with Kenobi's master having been Qui-Gon Jinn (i.e. Dooku's former Padawan) then I'm confident that Kenobi would have heard plenty about this certain charismatic Jedi. Dooku did many a thing that took him 'out of step' with the Jedi Council, something that Jinn clearly somewhat inherited from his Master, and showed in Phantom Menace, but Jinn probably was never quite as out-of-step as his Master often was.
And I guess that we have to remember that Dooku technically didn't leave the Order until after the Battle of Naboo - that leaves about two decades of Kenobi's life where he and Dooku were both members of the Jedi Order.
Anyway, I think my quizzes' times are up - I'll post some more of the factfile article soon.
And, on a side note, don't anyone think that you have to take the Expanded Universe ('EU'), or any material about SW characters that hasn't come from the film, to heart. If I read something from the EU that I don't like, or don't think would happen, or what-not, then I just ignore it.
The EU is more like published fan-fiction to me, and anyone can ignore fanfiction if they want. For me, the only 'real' Star Wars is the films - the rest is just spin-off stuff that never is quite as good. But that's just me.
OK, here's the next part from the SW Factfile. There's a couple more pages after this. My quizzes ended 10 days after Xmas eve, so that was kinda a while ago now...
A TURN TO THE DARKSIDE
[=blue]A potent Jedi Master, Dooku was active in the field, mediating and settling many conflicts. At the Temple, his understanding of the Living Force and his mastery of the lightsabre made him a much sought-after teacher. Privately, he indulged his curiosity about the Sith Holocron, and slowly and inexorably he slipped into the shadows of the dark side of the Force.
Jedi Master Dooku was only the twentieth Jedi to renounce the Jedi Order willingly and depart the Temple, never to return. The momentous event occurred not long after the battle of Naboo had claimed the life of Dooku
THE SEPARATIST MOVEMENT
HAVING DEALT WITH THE VOS INCIDENT AND FOUND A PRIME CLONE FOR THE KAMINOANS, DOOKU CONTINUED TO ADVANCE DARTH SIDIOUS'S PLANS
In the guise of Count Dooku - an identity that, since his fall to the dark side, was more of a mask - Darth Tyranus began to use his family fortune and influence to his own ends. Under the guidance of Darth Sidious, Count Dooku began to create a web of contacts within the commercial and financial institutions and organizations in the galaxy.
Count Dooku was the public face of the separatist movement. Only a precious few were aware of who was behind the growing network of business and banking leaders who came together to advance their own greedy agenda. Finally, some eight years after he had first vanished from sight, Count Dooku reappeared.
ANTI-REPUBLICAN
Now, rather than quietly and harmlessly challenging the ideals of the Republic from within the Jedi Order, Dooku set out to confront and destroy the institution. As the leader of the separatist movement, Dooku led thousands of systems into seceding from the Republic. The rot quickly spread, and the Republic found itself in a crisis that threatened to rip it apart once and for all.
THE CLOAK OF DECENCY
Darth Sidious and his apprentice had brought about the creation of a clone army. In order to combat the threat of the separatists, the Republic was calling for a military force to be created for its defence. Now it was time for the clone army to be discovered, so that it could be used in battle against the droid armies of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
To create that Confederacy, Dooku called his most prominent contacts to the world of Geonosis, where many of the droid forces used by those contacts were constructed. The corrupt and greedy leaders of trade, industry and finance were looking forward to a promised new golden age of capitalism and wealth, backed and defended by a combined army of droids that would trample the Republic and the Jedi Order to dust.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had already discovered the clone army on Kamino, stumbled upon the meeting on Geonosis, and reported his findings to the Jedi Council. Obi-Wan was himself then captured, though he proved resistant to Darth Tyranus' temptations. It was of little importance to the Sith that their plans were brought forward by Obi-Wan's ingenuity. It was of equally scant import that Kenobi and his would-be rescuers should be executed. Indeed, the spectacle would further strengthen the resolve of certain parties within the Confederacy.
JEDI BATTLE
Unfortunately for Dooku, the arrival of two hundred Jedi delayed matters, and the subsequent arrival of Master Yoda and a sizeable clone army threatened Dooku's own safety. Leaving for his ship with the plans for an ultimate superweapon, Dooku retreated to Coruscant.
Dooku first had to face Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker, but defeating the two Jedi was not a problem for the accomplished Master. However, when Master Yoda himself appeared, Dooku was driven back, barely escaping with his life. Returning to Coruscant, he was able to report to Darth Sidious that the Clone Wars had successfully begun. For Darth Tyranus, there was much work ahead.
There we are! That's all of it - and there won't be any more, unless a heap of Expanded Universe (or Parallel universe, as I prefer to call it...) rolls out, before Episode III.
I personally don't think that Dooku's life was ever in danger at Yoda's hands - would Yoda really have killed him? I just don't reckon he would have fallen foul to the little green guy anyway... but I just refuse to hear anything bad against our Dooku!
And here's the front cover of the issue that Dooku was featured in: Enjoy!

Hi Jurious,
Thank you for posting that bit of info...I would be most interested to see more of it and the photo as well
Sounds like a really cool thing to be subscribed to. Is it an emailed thing or do you get it in the post?
