So here comes another speculation thread from the Tim Burton/Sir Christopher fan!
This week, and last week, Mr. Tim Burton has begun casting his film version of the 60's-70's vampire TV series, "Dark Shadows".
So far, past Burton collaborators Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Michelle Pfeifer have been announced as in the cast (as well as a handful of awesome newcomers!)
Sooo....this leads to my discussion topic: Does anyone think that Sir Christopher might be offered a role, and if so, which one?
Awww...See, I can totally see
Awww...
See, I can totally see it going either way. I know that Sir Christopher does have a lot coming up I suppose with "The Hobbit", but I also know that him and Mr. Burton are fast friends (the BAFTA speech was so beautiful) and I know that given the oppurtunity, he'd put Sir Christopher in the film if he felt he fit. And, I am sure they'd work out schedules. From what I read, it only took Sir Chirstopher a few hours to record his lines for Burton's "Alice".
I would love to see them collaborate again, to be honest. I am just trying to think of the various characters on the show. There were so many and I am not an avid fan of the orginal. Theres speculation on IMDB on roles he could possibly play, but it's also fun to have a bit of a mystery. ![]()
Wowser! The cast list has
Wowser! The cast list has gotten impressive since the first announcement!
Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley and young Chloe Moretz, who just got done starring with Sir Christopher in "Hugo Cabret"!
It would be really nice if Sir Christopher gets to do a bit in this film. It's shaping up to be a good Burton film, I think.
I have sceen the orginal Dark
I have sceen the orginal Dark Shadows and the new version of Dark Shadows with Ben Cross in it. I like that one more than the orginal though. Sounds so far like this is gonna be really good. I hope Mr Lee well have a part in this that would be the best.

i 've watched a klot of the old tv series when it showed on re-runs. i'm sure that they could add a role for Sir Chris to play. perhaps an elderly vampire relation to barnabas, similar to a bela lugosi type role. a sort of passing the torch to the next generation.
Hey everyone...sorry I
Hey everyone...sorry I haven't been on here in a bit. I've been really busy at home. First of all, who is this odd, spammy Luolizhao person? They should probably get removed haha.
Anywho...back onto topic, I have recently been reading rumors that Sir Christopher has been indeed asked to do a cameo, and some places are even dropping hints that he may have been asked to play the smaller role of either Professor Stokes or Dr. Dave Woodard. I don't know if there is any truth to these statements. Has anyone else heard anything?
yes the reverend who Barnabas
yes the reverend who Barnabas walls off alive(barnabas Collins- the vampire) in the past after Victoria Collins is executed as a witch despite being from the 20tyh century. Yes i watched the original Dark Dhadows, and have a few of the books they made about the series..
It looks as though Sir
It looks as though Sir Christopher has already started filming for "Dark Shadows" as well...according to this fellow who apparently has a role in the film:

This is really exciting! He has little excited snippets about production on his page too:

I agree that is a pretty good idea. Iam also a fan of the orginal series to. But Iam sure what ever his role is its gonna be great.

Yes indeed! And there was
Yes indeed! And there was just a big article about it in the newest issue of "Empire".
Empire says this of Sir Christopher's role:
"Even serial Burton bit-parter Christopher Lee has a small but key role as, in Grahme-Smiths words, ' a sort of king of the fishermen' who spends a lot of time in the local pub, The Blue Whale."
Sounds like a neat little role! Can't wait to see how he fits into the story ![]()
So, the recent article about
So, the recent article about "Dark Shadows" in EMPIRE magizine talks a little about Sir Christopher's character:
"Even serial Burton bit-parter Christopher Lee has a small but key role as, in Grahame-Smith’s words, “a sort of king of the fishermen” who spends a lot of time in the local pub, The Blue Whale."
IMDB is listing his character as Bill Malloy, who featured in the early episodes of the show. Malloy is the head of the Collinsport cannery and is indeed a king of the fisherman. It's also interesting to note that later on in the series he becomes a part of the supernatural world of "Dark Shadows" (but I won't give it away, in case this plays into the film somehow).
Judging from the character in the show, this should be a fun little role for Sir Christopher ![]()
More Dark Shadows News!
Hey everyone! Just popping on with a little more news about Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows"!
First, the official website is up:
http://darkshadowsmovie.warnerbros.com/
Second, the official trailer will be up this evening!
Finally, there was a little more revealed about Sir Christopher's character. Recently, there was a test screening of the film and a "spoiler free" review was posted on a forum by someone who had the privilege of seeing it.
The review comes from Johnny Depp Reads, and here is what the reviewer has to say in regards to Bill Malloy, who Sir Christopher portrays (mind you, it's not a lot...just a blurb):
"Christopher Lee had a tiny part, you might not recognize him right away, but there's no mistaking that voice."
I know...it was a tiny blurb. But I think the fact that he is unrecognizable (minus his voice) is notable. He's playing a drunken American sailor, after all. Wouldn't it be really cool if he is made up into a real salty dog haha?
Hmm...it seems that Sir
Hmm...it seems that Sir Christopher is not playing Bill Malloy like it was originally believed. Seth Grahme-Smith confirmed this, but won't tell us who he is playing! I guess it's a surprise O_O
Elsewhere, the film's screenplay writer Seth Grahame-Smith dismissed previous reports that legendary actor Christopher Lee's character in the story will be Bill Malloy, a key figure in the original show's early months. "I'm not saying who Christopher Lee plays in Dark Shadows, but it's not who IMDB would have us believe," Seth wrote yesterday on Twitter. Empire magazine have described Lee as playing a "king of the fishermen."

Dark Shadows 2012
There is a photo circulating as well of Sir Christopher on the Dark Shadows websites; I can't tell you how tickled I am to see him in this film having been a fan of Dark Shadows back in the 60s, coming home after school to watch the show at 3 p.m. every weekday in California.
At 56, I'm still fond of the old show, and with the new movie coming out, well... I'd found out that Barnabas' wolf head cane was still being made in Germany and ordered one five years ago since I needed it to walk on a bad leg (since healed), so now, I'm ready for the premiere. LOL....

That is so cool! The wolf
That is so cool! The wolf head cane is awesome.
So I will admit that I wasn't an avid Dark Shadows fan, but I did enjoy the television series and I am really looking forward to this movie!
That picture of Sir Christopher and Johnny is great! I know he has done so many other things than Dracula, but having him in "Dark Shadows" is great tribute to all that he did to make the character of "the vampire" more than a one dimensional monster.
Sir Christopher is also mentioned in the film's official production notes and we finally have his character's name: Silas Clarney-

I am not sure if there is a
I am not sure if there is a part for him to play, really... Methinks Sir Christopher will be busy with "The Hobbit" anyway...
