I know too much, so I should either shut up or get killed. Questions will raise immediately after the film is released, that is all I am prepared to say. Everyone has their expectations, what are yours?

Haven't read any of the books, and keeping away from spoilers. I have no idea of what should happen. I just love the films and I know I will love this one. This type of movie is what cinema was invented for, pure escapism. Laughing out loud

It's going to be a magnificent movie. It's practically reserved for an Oscar!

I keep getting the feeling that the Scouring of the Shire will be in the movie. I don't know why, but I may be just wanting it to be there so much that I'm deceiving myself. However, they did say recently that they had made a change back to the books for the end of the movie. They were grinning and didn't want to reveal anything. It's possibility...

I hope it is as Elijah Wood says: "Better than 1 & 2 combined". I really hope Peter Jackson hasn't screwed it and gone away from the book. On a webpage I saw that he said that it would be "even more different from the book than the two first films". I would hate that. What would happen then, does Sauron come to the Pelennor fields? Does he get the Ring instead of, well, you know? I just hope they stay to the books.

Well, I know nothing about the movie at all, havent read anything about it, watched any trailers... the only pictures I've seen are the ones you cant avoid that are put up in cinemas and things. Thats how I went into seeing the first one, thats how I wanna see the last one. I dont really know what exactly I expect. When I saw the first part, I was completely blown off my feet, I was totally addictd and the cinema became something of a safe haven for me. It was really extreme. The second one... I loved as much, but the reaction wasnt as extreme, Im not sure why. So I really couldnt say whatll come this time. I only know what I will love it as dearly as I do the first two.

Otherwise.. I really do hope that "The Choices of Master Samwise" will be just like in the book, if other things have to be shortened, this scene is very important to me. Well, otherwise I completely trust Peter Jackson, actually. I know hell have captured the atmosphere of the book as well as anyone possibly could, and thats the most important thing.

I was never really into LOTR until I saw a trailer for FOTR, after that I was totally hooked. When I was on work experience the people in charge was talking about LOTR and was wondering who played the white wizard. Well that was it I was off, answering every question they shot at me. I was then called Lord of the Rings freak, as they thought if star trek fans are called trekkies than what should we call lord of the rings fans?

Neway in ROTK I am going to look forward to the battle at Minas Tirith, more Mr.Lee and seeing the trilogy come to an end. I did try to read the book, but as people know school work takes up alot of time.

Aside from seeing how the film version of the story is wrapped up, I'm honestly expecting to see more serious Oscar consideration for some of the "big" Oscars, i.e. Best Picture. I think in this third movie we'll see even more of the deep character development that Tolkien wrote (and in some cases made deeper by Peter Jackson), and I think many would agree that the Academy seems to prefer films that portray the sort of deep human emotion that will be on display when people are fighting for their lives, their love, and the existence of their species. I can't wait!

I agree wholeheartedly on the oscars part!

Right, no Scouring, no Saruman...so first I expect The Voice of Saruman cand The Scouring of the Shire Chapters to be given as reading during the pre-film adverts...so people know what's goiojgn on in Jackson's insane "plot."

Knowing they won't be in...I expect this to be the best film ever, ie to do justcice to the books with reagrd to everything else. Nothing less. Laughing out loud

I expect it to be an excellent film. The Two Towers was my favorite of the books and I found Return of the King to be a little tedious as a read so I fully agree with moving some scenes to the third movie. The Mount Doom scenes coming up along with the (theatrical) debut of Denethor are what I'm really looking forward to. I had been eagerly anticipating the Saruman/Wormtongue scenes but obviously I'll have to wait to see the DVD EE now.

I really don't know what I should expect...a great movie, that sticks to the book. What terrify me the most are the BIG CHANGES (like Faramir taking Frodo to Osgiliath etc. - horrible). I sencerely hope there will be lettle of those.

I originally had high expectations for ROTK. That has, however, changed. I now expect to save the eight dollars I would have spent on a ticket. In addition, I expect to have a wonderful opening night by staying home and watching Horror Express, The Wicker Man and The Man With The Golden Gun.

The trailer sends a tingle down my spine - it looks amazing, and from what I've so far heard of the soundtrack, it'll sound amazing, too. I will be going to see if, preferably on the first night it opens, though my spirits have been dampened a little with the loss of Saruman.

I expect an exiting final chapter to the Trilogy, but it won't possibly top the fabulous FotR, IMHO - that film had it all. Smile

Well after the excellent job on FOTR I was expecting a similar adaptation of TT, but that got knocked on the head with Faramir being so changed in character - I could just about put up with Aragorn being a coward, not wanting his birthright, in FOTR. Now hearing of certain pivotal scenes being cut from ROTK, I think we're going to end up with yet another pure battle movie with extended love interest of Arwen/Aragorn missing the subtleties of what I love about Tolkein.

I still live in hope that Im wrong amd somehow the deep friendship of the 9 is shown. Gimli is saved from being the comic relief, and Arwen is consigned to the cutting room floor until the very end. (no disrespect to the actors meant, just the story)

But I think I will walk out of the theatre without the feeling of a great movie ruined by the need of Hollywoods sterotypical formula.

Let's all take a step back and remember the Bakshi (sp?) version shall we? That was very faithful but looked very cheap and never got finished. At least these guys have done the impossible and filmed an unfilmable book. The fact that it isn't a complete travesty is in itself amazing, to niggle over a few plot changes is just nit-picking. ROTK will contain more fighting than necessary, too much Orlando prancing around and comedy Gimli BUT it will still mark the end of a staggaring a chievement :?

Very true, it wont be a travesty but it also IMHO wont be as good as I know it could have been. Think about it. For the first time we have the CGI, budget and a great set of actors who could pull this off. I always thought there was too much for 3 movies and it should have been 4. But its 3.

When Shakespear has been modernised the essence of the characters hasnt been changed. Henry doesnt become a comic relief. McBeth doesnt become a hero.

I could understand if it made the movies flow better on the big screen if Faramir is a weak man, Aragorn not wanting his birthright, Gimli the comic dwarf. But there is none.

Faramir shows his self belief and trust in times so bad, that he should take Frodo to Denethor but doesnt as he knows the right thing to do is to let him continue. Shows the quality of the man. But in TT, he's his fathers puppet, weaker for it in my biased eyes.

Aragron is pushed into the war of the ring in the movie, but in the book his becoming king is something that is noble, gets him his girl. Arwen can give up her right to the havens only if Aragorn is King of both Gondor and the North. Far better twist to the tale than is shown on the screen.

Gimli is a comic releif of sorts in the book, but its more subtle less in your face.

The honesty and innocence shown in the book is what has been lost in the movies and it is a shame. Not all down to Jackson, its also the times we live in.

It will be a good movie and I shall enjoy it. But I will also mourn it as a big missed oppurtunity to make an absolute humdinger of a classic as the book is.
