I, just recently watching this miniseries based on the novels by Mervyn Peake, find it very intresting and thought provoking. I mean really? I could never come up with something this "different". The story is great and the cast is wonderful as well. I would, however, like to see just what anyone here on CLW thinks about this miniseries or the novels themselves.

I've never read the novels and didn't like the series at all.Sorry but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

This is the best television production I have ever seen with Mr Lee.
Wonderful characters and the material is wonderful. I have never read the books but going to. The theme has been used before though. High upper class family torn appart and a lower class person or persons rising in rank.
And also family members questioning their own family and going their own way. We have seen it before. And this was a project that people said is unfilmable. It speaks to me anyway.

Yes Joakim, I know the theme has been used before but not exactly like "Gormenghast". It is indeed my favorite television production ever. Christopher Lee as Mr. Flay was perfect. Did you notice that when he is banished, several years later he looks like Saruman with a blend of Gandalf? I'm just saying. Isabel, you must see this miniseries. Purchase the DVD if you can. It truly is an outstanding series although it's not for everyone as Mr. Gemmell has proven. Thanks for your help everyone. Still, if more people here are willing to give me their opinions, it would be much appreciated.

That's what I like about it it's different. Yes I did notice that he looks like Saruman and a blend of Gandalf. Little did we know what lay ahead.
This part is just one of the milestones that showes what an amazing actor Mr Lee is.

Thank you, Joakim.
That is a miniseries. How many chapters are? Does Mr. Lee do announces enough of this?
Is the miniseries in a, two or more DVDs?

I adore the series LOST. Somebody knows if Mr. Lee was not invited to participate in the series. I imagine him in the series. It would be splendid!

Gormenghast is a double dvd edition. 2 discs. The one I've got is a two disc edition. It's four episodes and Mr Lee is in all of them. You can order it from any website. www.amazon.com is one or www.play.com Anything that ends with .com. hehe. Bad joke. sorry.

Thank you, Joakim.
When finishing paying my other purchases of DVD, with certainty I will acquire these episodes.

Hihihi... I live like this... I see Mr. Lee in the films and I stay trying to understand  something, because the bought films of other countries don't bring subtitles (at least those that I bought didn't have)... or I didn't have luck as for that.
