Or he could get it for his role in the Hobbit and its sequel. lOl. Seriously, any role he'sd have in Hobbit would be very brief as Saruman doesn't appear in the book, save for very brief mentions by Gandalf. He's indicated he's like to reprise his role in the films..or at least its rumored that he has indicated that. I'd love to see it, its easily one of his most famous roles at least for those who are of my generation..

A lifetime achievement Oscar is long overdue. Then again we have Triage to look forward to so ............. who knows ??
Some of the greatest actors and directors in history have never won. Vicent Price never won an oscar, nor did Alfred Hitchcock. Nor has Peter O'Toole and he's been nominated 8 times.. A lot of things go into winning an Oscar imo. You have to have the right role, and it has to be one of note, It can't simply be a brief cameo. Also it helps if the film is widely seen. As for being knighted I believe he deserves the honor. If they can knight Sean Connery, they can Knight mr Lee.

I agree with Juan: Mr. Lee has 100 % to get one Deserved Oscar. And I really hope He Win next year, in 2009!
Christopher Lee can a Lot of Possibility to win for his Multifacet Career in the Film Industry, from Hammer´s Films to Jinnah´s movie. (If they want).
When It´is will go to happen? Idon´t know. I don´t understand "The Oscar World". When " this movie industry" has give to ONE of the Greatest Actors of the Century XX, as Christopher Lee, they give their back to Mr. Lee and waiting for "don´t know what" for Him awarded.

I really believe it would be a glaring omission if BAFTA don't recognise him in some manner as his career - over 50 years as a star - is unique...
WELL SAID. For him not to be recognised by BAFTA, would be a great oversight. He has been, and is still one of our finest actors.
I agree with you Steve: I find it bizarre that BAFTA hasn't seen fit to bestow a Lifetime Achievment Award/Fellowship upon him.
This is a man who starting working in the British film industry 60 years ago and whose career runs from starting out in the Rank charm school shortly after the war to recently working on a Vinnie Jones thriller!

I believe Mr Lee has been awarded the C.B.E - Commander of the British Empire.
And yes your right, it would be nice if he got a Knighthood. Sir Christophert Lee has a nice ring to it. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that would give his wife, Gitte, the title of Lady.
That would be nice: SIR CHRISTOPHER LEE...I would be very happy for him. And of couse, he deseves it!!!

My opinion is: he does not need one. For us fans, for all fans all over the world Mr. Lee has, he is the greatest actor and will ever be! I think this means something to Mr. Lee. Does anyone remember his afterword in "The Christopher Lee Filmography"?

It would be great to see him honoured in some way, maybe by the BAFTA association.
Surely a lifetime achievement award is just round the corner. I agree with Jaun Aneiros, it should be Sir Christopher Lee soon. I wanted to see Mr Lees name in the new years honours, but it wasn't to be.
If anybody should be knighted for his services, not just to the movie industry, film and television, but for his war service, surely Mr Lee qualifies in all catogories.
Maybe this year.

Of course, it sounds nice, to get THE OSCAR, but I repeat Monika`s question: Does he really want it? He is a great actor, a fascinating personality and he has fans all over the world - and they all love and adore him. Maybe that means much more to Mr Lee?
And yes..it is a shame that Peter Cushing and Vincent Price, two remarkable actors,never got any awards like that. I don`t know how they decide about the people who get the Oscar, but I think that Mr Lee is intelligent enough to know, that there are more important things for him. Maybe I am totally wrong than please correct me.
I have come to the conclusion that the Oscars are largely meaningless as an arbiter of talent or ability they seem to be more skewed to people who play the game well in Hollywood and tow the "party line" there I think in the minds of alot of the "elite" there Mr Lee may be considered a Horror film actor. Mr Cushing was never honored neither was Vincent Price, both wonderfully talented men. He has I think the best and most meaningful award, we all love and respect him greatly, and speaking personally I would rather see Mr Lee perform for 5 minutes than to see an entire film with many many other actors. Just an opinion on my part.

I wish it was something we could do for Mr. Lee, have him knighted. I mean, the things those man achieved is just amazing and should be honored by such an honorable title.

I always attended Oscar's delivery. I was in front of TV fastened in the screen and it always sought for Mr. Lee. Once only I saw Vincent Price there giving a prize to somebody.
Today I don't see more this award party when it passes in TV.
I think that Mr. Lee receives from all their fans, every year an OSCAR.
We know that he is recognized as the great actor that is, and also he is considered an example in several senses (professional, human, of life... )
I also believe that Mr. Lee is the celebrity with more fans, that fans are conserved for a lifetime.Their fans are "faithful." Mr. Lee is not something passenger, disposable as they are many actors and atrizes that appear at every moment. Christopher Lee is OUR KING!! Our idol, the best.

Reports have come in suggesting that this will be Mr Lee's top film ever, includig Jinnah.
This production looks like is going to challenge both SW and LOTR. Please don't be fooled by their web site.
