In one of the most incredible moments in rock history, Black Sabbath and Heaven & Hell legend Tony Iommi presented Sir Christopher Lee with the ‘Spirit of Hammer’ award at last night’s Metal Hammer Golden God awards. The ceremony took place at the Indigo02 Arena in London.
After apologising to the British Band Saxon for his passionate delivery of the lines "I shed the blood of the Saxon men" Sir Christopher made an emotional speech as he collected his award in front of 1500 jubilant metal fans and 300 members of the rock industry.
Before leaving he said "I will be leaving on my motorbike with a case of Jagermeister [beer] and several copies of Metal Hammer"
The Metal Hammer Golden Gods, which this year were sponsored by Kawasaki, are one of the most prestigious awards in the rock calendar.

I very much like the 2nd video. I hoped there would be some footage from the speech.
Sir Christopher not only seems honestly touched by the award, he's also shows some good humor!
And after all these suits&ties event it's cool to see him in a nice leather jacket. I saw some photos and there you can see that it's has a "Sleepy Hollow" button on it. Probably a gift he received on the film set back in 1999.
Congratulations to Mr. Lee for "Charlemagne" but also for the powerful images and dark characters he created that have inspired and become part of the heavy metal culture. I understood that the award is for both contributions.
Congratulation Sir Christopher !
Congratulations Sir Christopher! What a tremendous achievement to be breaking into new genres at this time in an already accomplished career.
